How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Great location, close to metro/tram. Restaurants and shops easily accessible. Hotel was very nice, basic, clean. The staff and service was great. Would stay here again.

Coffee at breakfast was weak and I didn't see any option for an espresso.
Excellent location only a few minutes walk to Alexanderplatz where there are trains, trams and buses to get you anywhere you like. Clean & comfortable room and bathroom. Comfy bed and pillows, and the aircon worked as desired. Nice rooftop bar (note this is not open air but has good views). The breakfast is adequate and they can provide GF breadrolls (allow 10 minutes). Nice touch of the TV turning on when entering and watching tropical fish swimming. There are mulitple places to eat nearby from fast food to restaurants. Because of the location I would stay here again.

I loved everything about this hotel. Zero complaints.
Room very modern and clean. Great Wifi. Hotel is very convenient location right off of Alexanderplatz. Easy walk from train station, and excellent connections to regional trains, S-bahn, trams, underground, and buses. Plenty of places to eat around, and also convenient to nearby grocery when I wanted food, drinks, fruit, cheese, etc. to go. Would stay here again and again in future.

Great Central location on Alexanderplatz. Lovely room with a view, staff really friendly, they understood my attempt at German even if I was a bit rusty. Such nice place will go again. 18th floor lounge bar amazing thanks for a fab stay.

The shower didn’t drain completely. This appeared to be because there was not enough slope in the floor. So after a shower water pooled all over the floor in the shower area. We had to use towels to soak it up.
We were very pleased with our stay. The location was perfect and the room was quiet. The hotel is very large and modern. It met all our expectations for a three-day stay in Berlin.

Great location only 5 minutes walk from AlexanderPlatz Station. We were offered a large room on the 8th floor with a huge bathroom. The rooftop bar on the 18th floor had great views and was quite reasonable for a hotel bar.

Breakfast during the weekend is huger and with a little more of variety than during the weekdays

The lady, probably the manager of the reception but I cannot be sure, one evening was approached us when we were sitting in the lobby and started to question who we were and are we from the hotel. She was not rude but slightly unpleasant and I tolerated her till she crossed the line. Then I asked her are we allowed to sit there and are we have some kind of problem. Then she apologized and left. Later I spotted that she had that intro line with some other guests and they reacted same as I. Then she was rude to some staff member at the reception desk. He probably made some mistake but the lobby was full of guests and that was not the place or the time for the lecture. Werry unprofessional behaviour.Bad choice if she was a manager. She was arrogant, inadequate and incompatible with the other workers there. Everyone else was so nice and helpful.
It's my second time in Motel 1. I've been to Brussels first time and this time Berlin. Everything was fine. The service, the guy from the reception was so nice and helpful Clean hotel, good breakfast, and excellent cleaning staff. I recommended.
