View only- everything was severely overpriced. Not value for money, and it’s certainly not a 4 star hotel. Old, tired, run down

The place is lovely and in the middle of nature, the best we had on our 10 days trip on the south island. We stayed in 'Tom's hut', this is detached from the main building but right next to it. The hut is very cosy and the heating is very strong. We also really liked the common areas with the big kitchen and the fireplace with firewood. While staying there, we hiked across the farm and beyond on land that's not public to enjoy the beautiful scenery, a unique experience. Thanks Alana for being so helpful and for her kids showing us the farm animals :)

The location and view is breathtaking. We went in June so got the taste of Autumn colors and winter. Accommodation is great, good value for money. Common room is cozy and warm, bathroom is very clean. Kitchen is tidy.
Staff are very and accommodating.
Amazing place, surrounded by mountains.
There are limited options for entertainment/dinning, however it offers endless options for walks of all grades, hikes, nature photography.
Must visit for all nature lovers.

We did a 19 day road trip around the lower North Island, and Mount Cook Village was my favourite place to stay. Id love to go back again some time. Sadly for us due to being delayed due to issues with the interislander we only got to stay here for one night. We took an amazing scenic flight and landed on the Tasman glacier. We had the perfect day for it. The smorgasbord restaurant at the Hermitage was fantastic, one of the better smorgasbord's Ive had. I would love to come back here some day and do some of the shorter walks around the area and just to experience this majestic place once more.

Being able to see the glacier from the top part of the village. Our fantastic day trip to Lake Tasman to get close to icebergs and and the glacier at one end of the lake. (not the glacier seen from the village).

The village is located in an amazing place.
The village is located in an amazing place. If are self catering while in the village you will need to bring your supplies with you. There is very limited grocery items for sale.
There is a cafe and restaurant located in the Hermitage complex. The other dining places are closed.

There is limited accommodation at Mount Cook village and it is all expensive. There are many well marked and maintained paths from the road end which allow walks off between one hour and six hours to be safely undertaken. There are no shops or independent restaurants or food outlets, unless you are self catering, you will have to eat in the expensive hotels. The most economical way to visit would be by Campervan bringing all of your supplies with you The self catering options are limited to the motel, which is in my opinion, overpriced for the accommodation it offers.

I did not like Mt Cook Village at all. Hard to get around.
I did not like Mt Cook Village at all. Hard to get around. Nowhere to buy food or snacks and restaurant closed during the day. Inflated prices. I think our experience would have been much better but unfortunately the weather was dreadful and hence we had no views and were unable to do our planned walk. All in all it was a very disappointing experience.

An amazing hostel and location! It reminded me of the hostel in Liechtenstein - well cleaned and spacious for each person. Massive kitchen area with proper recycling bins. Absolutely loved the quiet area and access to the sauna was just amazing after the hikes! Great for stargazing too!
The rooms had enough space for luggage storage and curtain to avoid disturbance.
Haka house provided shower gels, shampoo and conditioner in all their bathrooms which was great!
The location is great if you're staying in Mount Cook, with it only being < 5-minute walk from the Hermitage hotel. Keep in mind though, it's important to make sure you bring your own food if you want to avoid the overpriced buffet service at the Hermitage hotel. The lodge has a kitchen space on level 2 that you can leverage to save money.
The room was on the ground floor. The common kitchen and lounge was amazing with plenty of room for multiple people preparing and eating meals. The lounge faced Aoraki and when it was clear, the view was breathtaking. Being close to the trailheads deep in the valley was fantastic. The bathroom was cozy but had a wonderful shower.
Great room, very quiet and clean.
The manager was very friendly and gave some good local advice.
We had a great view of the glaciers near Mount Cook, but couldn't see the mountain itself.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Aoraki Court Motel and recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the area.
The location is just amazing and the views from hotel are incredible.
The staff was very helpful and nice.
Room for two was small but enough for two people with two big backpacks and was very cosy and clean.
I can highly recommend MT. Cook Lodge for stay, all my friends were highly satisfied.
In Mount Cook village are no possibilities to go out at night. This is why everyone in the hostel is gathering in the community areas and as a solo traveller you get easily in touch with other travellers.
Very clean, very well equipped. Even offer blankets in case you get cold.
Beds were very comfy. The mountain view from the room was not bad. The kitchen was thankfully well equipped as we had to whip up a few dinners because besides the main restaurant in the main hotel, there wasn't any restaurants around.
Helpful reception. Good lounge with nice mountain views and self-help kitchen with fridges etc for guests. Near the Hermitage Hotel, for access to a restaurant/coffee shop and start of some activities.
The nice lady introduced me to nearby restaurants to help me choose where to go for dinner. Although the facilities are no as good than other place. But I am satisfied to have such a hotel in village.
Great location, convenient to hook valley track. But there is no restroom inside the room, privacy was a problem. The youth hotel was built with wood, sound insulation couldnot be guaranted.
Perfectly situated to be so close to glacier.
Very isolated little place, needed to bring all food, though there was a hotel up the road.
Great for walking, or just relaxing..
Amazing location, tucked into valley--both beautiful and convenient to hiking tracks; view of Aoraki from the window of our room, interesting history, brand new comfortable rooms
We absolutely loved everything about this hotel. Breathtaking views, great facilities, very comfortable rooms, but best of all, the staff were just exceptional. All of them.
