We had a quiet day walking and looking around in the near area of the hotel, which made a relaxing pause in our journey.

High quality apartment, beds great etc.
High quality apartment, beds great etc. Problem was getting there was a hassel of the off road time with very difficult roads. Too expensive given that. And it was a construction site, per the picture out of our window.

There was a lot of noise.
There was a lot of noise. We weren't on the main building and when people walked in the hallway you got a lot of noises. Also the fan in the toilet turned on every time you turned on the lights and it stayed on for 15 minutes after.

We stayed in Kirkjubaerjarklaustur and made day trips to the glacier and to black beach. If you have a car, it is a great place. The scenery is beautiful and it is a good location to explore the south eastern part of the island. It is a bit of a drive for groceries and I suggest you buy them in Reykjavik or at a larger town on the way to the south.

Cute small town with a pretty waterfall at the top of the hill. A couple of restaurants and a small market were easily available. The hotel we stayed at was outside of the town itself but was an easy drive away. The town was also close to many beautiful sights, including Vatnajokull National Park and Diamond Beach.

Great location, especially if you are in Iceland only for couple of days, this would be one of the best choices. From this location, you can make several amazing trips to the surrounding locations. The most interesting places offered by southern Iceland are reacheble from this area as a "base camp".

This was the last self-catering stop on a trip around the Iceland Ring Road. The house — on what was originally a farm — has been beautifully renovated. Cooking facilities were good, and there were lots of pots, pans, crockery and cutlery (this was the best-equipped kitchen area by far of the four self-catering places we stayed). The bathroom was spacious with an excellent shower. Living area and separate bedroom were comfortable and stylish. Good communication with the owner. We’d certainly book again if we re-visited the area.
This property was my groups favorite during our 10 days in Iceland. Its super cozy and fit my group of 6 just fine. The house is actually 2 houses. You have to go outside to get to the other one which my friends loved the privacy. One house has 2 bedrooms with 4 beds and a bathroom with shower. The main house also has 2 bedrooms with 4 beds, a loft, bathroom with shower and kitchen/livingroom. I went in January which required 4 wheel drive. One of our cars got stuck at the base of the driveway briefly. Luckily we found a shovel.
The location is amazing. Reasonably close to a town but in a quiet, rural setting by a lake. The bungalows are adjacent to Hotel Laki and breakfast was served there. Our bungalow was one of the original ones built in 1973. It was cute, if a little tired looking on the outside but lovely and clean on the inside. Might be a little cramped if there were more than two in the one bedroom bungalow. The shower was great. The beds were a bit too soft for our comfort but the bed linen was so clean and lovely quality.
We were greeted warmly by the helpful front desk staff. The rooms were clean and featured modern minimalist decor and a comfortable beds with some extra amenities including towel warmers in the bath. Breakfast featured a lovely buffet in the dining room. There are cool photo books of Iceland to look through in the lobby and lounge areas. For dinner, we walked to the restaurant just down the street and had some really good pizza. We even caught a show of the northern lights from a darker spot in town.
This was our favourite hotel during our Iceland ring road trip. Room was very well equipped and comfortable, we had room upgrade which was a nice treat and even got to see northern lights, albeit briefly. Good bar and restaurant facilities, it was happy hour as we checked in so enjoyed a beer in the bar after a day hiking at Skaftafell. We had very good dinner in the restaurant, not cheap but nowhere is in Iceland. Very good breakfast.
Breakfast was provided by the hotel and included fish, cheese, and fresh baked bread among other items. It's located between Vik and the Glacier Lagoon, making it an ideal place to stop. As a lovely surprise, Fjadrargljufur (Feather River Canyon) is a five-minute drive up the road and made for a stunning sunset walk/hike. We also had dinner there one night and the food was delicious! The staff were cheerful, welcoming and very helpful.
I loved that it was clean and functional. We stayed for one night, there are three great kitchens and a large dining area. In the summer it must be fun to eat by the nearby creek. Great views of the vast Icelandic nature. My teenage kids were satisfied. Overall very good first impression. It was the cheapest in the area when I booked, but I believe the price to value ratio is fair. Take ear plugs with you, tends to be loud at night.
-a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere
-the design of the room is modern and cozy at the same time
-you find everything in your room what you might need
-the location and atmosphere is amazing
-the hotel's restaurant Bistro 1973 offers traditional yet contemporary cuisine which was the best we had on Iceland so far, so you should not miss it
-definitely will come back during summer time (were the in November)
Cozy cabin at a small campsite just at the edge of Fjallaback national park. Very friendly and helpfull staff. The cabin is really small, but we (family of four) loved our stay here in the middle of nature. From the cabin, it's a 10 minute walk to a nice waterfall. If you have the proper car, be sure to drive F208 and F235, two of the most beautiful (and at times challenging) roads in Iceland.
Convenient location right off the ring road. Keep in mind that this is a guest house and not a hotel, so don’t expect things that you’d expect from a hotel. Each building had 4 private rooms. The rooms themselves were small (as are other places in Iceland)
Bathroom was good and beds were just comfortable
While the bungalows are small they offer everything you need. Of our 8 nights in Iceland we slept the best here. It was very quiet so it allowed us to open the window for a cool breeze. Breakfast was included and it was very good. Great way to start the day before hiking and exploring the glacier lagoon.
Was a lovely stay. We had a very late check in so got a personal note left for us at the reception with instructions of where to find the room and the keys. Comfortable bed, great shower, all what is needed after a long day tracking and exploring beautiful Iceland. Great breakfast.
Great location., nice staff and very clean. As for all other accommodations on Iceland- at least when booked a bit late, the place was rather expensive compared to what you got. However, the guesthouse is great, and breakfast fine etc.
I liked that it was off the beaten path. You got to see a different side of Iceland. It is very dark at night which could be wonderful for seeing the northern lights. I stayed in unit 2. It was perfect for 3 people.
Very nice breakfast in Icelandic style;)
Room nice, but a bit noisy. But I would give 10points anyway:)
Very nice and helpfull staff
If onle the weather would be better;) But it´s nothing what we could change
Restaurant is GREAT. Meals were mostly a delight, only a problem because of large groups that ate there occasionally. View was perfect for northern lights display. Decent central(ish) travel to SE Iceland.
The place was clean and comfortable. If you are looking for a budget hotel, I would highly recommend this! It’s only a 30 min drive from Skaftafell National park!
Great location for visiting the southeast side of Iceland
Nice river view from the patio
Common area was nice for our group
Good sized rooms for each couple
