I seen development in the City since the last time I have visited. The city is no longer boring, but getting vibrant with many amenities and opportunities.
Smaller City but has everything what's needed for a modern urban life.

I was there primarily to see "Mandy Patinkin in Concert", so I can't review Halifax for you, other than the driving experience... Street signage could be better in a lot of the downtown core... but yes to coming back to see more of it....

I've stayed in this city many times.
I've stayed in this city many times. Always lots to do no matter what your interests. It has a pretty vibrant night life, and I've always felt safe here, no matter where I walked. Lots of history, lots of night life, lots of dining options (Seafood is a MUST!!), lots of tours, museums, etc. I live in Ottawa, and Halifax easily compares in the museum and history aspects, and in some ways is even better. Go there. You won't be disappointed!!

Halifax is fantastic.
Halifax is fantastic. We travelled there 2 Septembers in a row (4 and 2 days respectively). if you stay downtown, you are able to walk to all the local attractions- we especially loved the boardwalk, citadel, and shopping downtown. Many many fabulous restaurants and museums. Also, fun to stay in Halifax proper and take excursions to local attractions( ie Peggy's Cove and Laurencetown beach) Prepare for rain - but this in no way detracts from having fun in this great city

If you only have a bit of time do the harbour hoppers tour.
If you only have a bit of time do the harbour hoppers tour. Lots of historical information about Halifax. A tour of the Citadel, important or historical sites and a brief trip into the bay to see the Halifax Harbour. Two thumbs up and very reasonably priced.

Halifax is more of a town than a city.
Halifax is more of a town than a city. I would say 2 days is ample, 3 at the most. I would say it's a walkable place but I walk mostly everywhere. If you use transit (bus, ferry) or use the bridges - you need to have cash (coins - $1 and 25 cents).
The ferry across to Dartmouth is a fun little outing.
The Titanic exhibition in town is informative but over-priced. At most you will spend an hour in it.
I found Halifax a curious mix of individuals - lots of students and a fair amount of homeless folk. Some folk were super friendly but there does seem to be an element of 'tension' between the locals and the more transient populations - tourist, students, cruise people. I've travelled a lot and have never had that sense of tension before.
Accommodation is super expensive or pretty basic. I stayed in a hotel in the North end, it wasn't cheap, $168/night and it was not good.
My overall recommendation on Halifax - Go take a look for a few days but head off to see the rest of NS.
If you are looking for a place to stay in downtown Halifax, this is a great option. The room is a great size - essentially a studio apartment, which was great as I was working from there. The essentials are provided (full kitchen, dishes) and the bed was very comfortable so slept very well. Earplugs are provided, which is thoughtful (useful for summer visitors).
I wanted an affordable place downtown and this exceeded expectations. Self-service was new for me but it was well through out, so check in/out not a problem.
The room is nice and clean, facing the park in the front.
The front desk workers are helpful and friendly.
Have good size parking, nice and flat, not on the hill.
The best thing about Westin is the location, it is right beside super store, and right in front of Halifax Waterfront, no need to find extra parking when you go for a walk there.
I would recommend to my friend, and likely to stay there again if I can visit again.
Good choice of restaurant, environment is wonderful.
But toilet make funny noise.
The front desk staff are really friendly and fast, check-in was easy. The room was large, clean and very comfortable. The bed was fantastic! I had an amazing sleep. The fitness room is incredible, they also have a separate room for Yoga and meditation. We had breakfast both days st the restaurant: very good. We did not have a car so were walking and ubering: it is a 45 minute walk to the ferry, which we enjoyed, and an $18 uber from downtown Halifax. I'd recommend this hotel.
Location was great. Who could ask for better than downtown Halifax, with a harbor view!
Staff was also great at accommodating us with a microwave which you need to request upon arrival.
I appreciated the security of needing your key card to access the elevators and ice room.
Shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the showers is a beautiful touch.
Picture attached is the view from our hotel room.
We loved the apartment as it was spacious, very well equipped. Nice touch having bathrobes. The location was fantastic in a lovely neighbourhood, only a 20-minute walk to downtown Halifax. Fantastic balcony with floor to ceiling windows with a lovely view of the surrounding skyline. Great to have private parking. Would rate this property 5 star.
I stayed at both the Lord Nelson and Marriott Downtown hotels during my stay in Halifax. My room at the Lord Nelson was cheaper and yet 10x better than my room at the Marriott. It was a little busy when I checked-in but the staff in front assisted me as to where I can temporarily park. Great location just in front of the Halifax Public Gardens.
Superb hotel in a great location on the waterfront, rooms were extremely well designed with top quality toiletries and lovely touches such as chilled water bottles in the car was returned from valet parking. Loved the concept of the 'speakeasy' bar for hotel residents only -amazing views from there and such fun to knock and be let in!!
I cant say enough good things about this hotel! Each getaway to halifax we stay here with our two australian shepherd. The prince george hotel offers a great location, underground parking, a tasty lobby bar, super friendly staff and they even provide a gift bag for the fur babies!
Cant wait to go back to halifax and stay here again 😊
A great place to stay in Halifax, within walking distance of the downtown attractions with considerably more charm & lower prices than the big hotels. Our room was large and welcoming. We appreciated the good-sized closet, the table & chairs by large windows, fun & funky decor, & access to the shared dining room all day.
Location is perfect and it's the cheapest hotel to stay at in downtown halifax that is still a nice place. Always clean and the people working at the desk are always super nice. We traveled with a dog and they gave us a little gift bag for her which was a nice touch. Love the included breakfast as well.
Their breakfast was amazing! a lot of selections and nice view from the restaurant. Our room was a lake view and it was clean. And location was close to enough to downtown Halifax. Also they have an arcade in the hotel which was great. My family enjoyed playing their.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Conveniently located in the centre of Halifax. Close to the beautiful waterfront, coffee shops, shopping and entertainment venues. In case of any problems, the staff was happy to solve them quickly. Thank you for your attention!
This is a nice facility with a friendly and efficient staff. The rooms are nice and clean. The breakfast is very good. The location is not downtown Halifax but we liked the location.
This is a beautiful and very elegant hotel! the staff are truly amazing, the valet parking is the perfect option for busy downtown Halifax. We loved everything about our stay.
everything is within walking distance. it’s the perfect place to book if you want to stay in downtown halifax. I would definitely book this place when I come back and visit
