The people seem very happy. It was fantastic idea to have the local food selling next to the hotel. Getting around was a bit complicated. Young people would enjoy the Arapita Ave. Strip. Despite it was a good idea to have local dishes next to the hotel so Foreighners dont have to go far to get a taste of a Trinidad Dish I think it is highly important that the Government or the responsible party take Health and Sanitation into consideration. There are too many pigeons and birds flying through the Breakfast Shed.
We only had a short stay there but I can't say that I saw anything about the actual city to impress me. I believe Trinidad has other nice areas to visit outside of Port of Spain. The people we encountered however were very friendly and have lovely Caribbean accents!
Traffic is a bit nuts - but that's similar all over Trinidad. Some of the tourist attractions could use fixing up. Prices are comparable to CAD, once you convert from TT. The only items that were much cheaper are food and booze. Club entrances are often worth the extra money if you want to drink all night for one price. But the price is the same, even if you arrive with only 2 hours before closing, so arrive early. The Avenue is bumping at night with many options for eating and sipping and dancing, even smoking hookah/sheesha. Caroni swamp tour was interesting - bring LOADS of bug spray. As for day trips, definitely go to Maracas Beach. In August, the city gets REAL hot and humid, so an ocean escape is ideal. Try Asha's bake and shark - it's fresher and the toppings are more plentiful than those found at the more prominent/popular Richard's.
M y favourite place the bedroom and pool area. The dining area was very beautiful like if was set up for some special function. Yes it was easy getting to and from the area. Some of the activities easy access to San Fernando the second largest city in Trinidad. Lime at the bar close to the pool. and enjoy great local food.
Great area to stay to explore Trinidad. Stayed at Ramela's B&B and found its proximity to the Airport and Port of Spain was ideal. Great room and room rates, A/c and free Wi-Fi. What great value for money. Property is a 2 minute walk away from shopping complex with restaurants and entertainment. Got a chance to explore and enjoyed a "rotie" and "busupshot" - Delicious!!. Will definitely visit again and stay at Ramela's again.
I believe it was once the capital of Trinidad so it has all you would expect from a modern city (if indeed it can be classed as such I'm not certain). All the usual features are present a wide range of shops in the High Street and surrounding addresses. Banks, jewellers, opticians, shoes shops, phone shops, fast food outlets (sadly), boutiques and so on are all well represented. The city centre is full of hustle and bustle and feels like a mini Port of Spain the official capital albeit smaller. Just one last thing out of complete necessity I ate at the KFC there and it was one of the worse things I've ever had the displeasure to consume. It was drier than Summer in the the Sahara and as tasteless as air. Then again I should have really known better.
I live here so I can tell you, the airport was built like everything in our little oil rich banana republic through a few wealthy business men who designed it like a big tacky house. It cost 5 times as much as it looks like its worth. Their are baggage men who will try to scam you into paying them USD which is in rare supply in my banana republic home. Do not pay them USD, pay them in the local currency which is what they deserve and is much cheaper. There are some nice fast food places so there's that. Come to marvel at what corruption and incompetence looks like in Trinidad. Come look at the airport and then turn around and go somewhere that's actually nice.
San Fernando has a natural landmark - The San Fernando Hill- that attracts nature lovers and local alike. San Fernando is also considered to be a Commercial and Business haven that supports and contributes to the economic development of Trinidad and Tobago.
Piarco is the main airport of Trinidad. As airports go, it is ok, even the security area which was always a challenge is being improved and there is more space - hurrah! There is a local food court - I would recommend trying the food whilst waiting around for your flight as opposed to the usual suspects of KFC Subway etc..
I had an excellent stay for work in Trinidad at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. In my assessment, the hotel provides the best hospitality, service and care amongst all the hotels in town. I would like to specifically mention the elaborate complimentary breakfast and sumptuous meals at the restaurant. Similarly, the reception, housekeeping and travel desk provide exceptional and personalised service. I would particularly mention the top class assistance provided by Ms. Narisha and Mr. Sean.
Arouca
Communication with Nekesha was super easy and she replied promptly!! The apartment was designed tastefully with all modern appliances. It literally felt like home. The kitchen especially was super cute. You cannot go wrong and will definitely stay here again! I flew into Trinidad last minute and booked as I landed. The late night check in was welcomed and in no time I was checked in and relaxed! Thanks again. Highly recommend!
The location was not walking distance to the downtown area but transportation is available. We had somewhat to a difficult time getting transportation one occasion but it worked out in the end. There are private cars that are used by locals to take you to the hotel. The breakfast prepared each morning was a variety of Trinidadian dishes, pancakes, bagel, eggs etc, so there was no need to complain about lack of food.
if you arrive at Trinidad at very late night, this is the right hotel to stay. it’s about 6km to the airport and they provide free shuttle for coming & going to the airport. Although the hotel's facilities are very basic and expensive, its restaurant is very good. the price is reasonable, and the food is delicious, especially the Thai food. all members of staff were very nice and friendly. very clean room.
Staying at Metro you won't regret it, lovely staff, location the massage chair is fight for. With everything close due to Covid-19 the free coffee vending machine was a savior, dont ever remove it. My husband and myself have been to alot if 5 star hotels and Metro in our book could be that as well when everything resume. We're that happy the be here. Our now favourite place to be when coming to Trinidad.
Port-of-Spain
Great location for access to most of the things we wanted to do and see in Trinidad. The property was very clean , had a lovely pool and secure parking . Koral the host was very helpful with everything to do with the apartment and things to do whilst in Trinidad. Especially appreciated the fact that we could stay in the apartment until 4pm as our flight was at 8 pm
Ideal location for a last minute stay in Trinidad close proximity to the airport, and safe and secure. Staff were great especially the waitress and bar staff. Room was a decent size and it had everything we needed right there on site. We chose to eat in their restaurant and the food was tasty and beautifully presented, compliments to their chef.
San Fernando
Very friendly host, customer service is outstanding, Since the apartment is very high it portrays a beautiful overview of the sea and its surrounding areas especially during the night time, it is peaceful and indeed quiet, very comfortable an exceptionally clean apartment. 10/10 and would recommend to anyone travelling to Trinidad.
Saint Helena
Perfect location from the airport! Super modern apartment. Clean!!! All amenities! Self check in was awesome. The owner was a WhatsApp away and was always prompt with his responses. This is my go to Apartment whenever I go Trinidad!! Forget the hotels. This is the spot right here!!! You will not be disappointed! Highly recommend.
Port-of-Spain
We were there for U19 cricket world cup and Trinidad was only just starting to open up. It was great to ba able to have the use of the pool during the afternoon and evening. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. Spend the small difference to upgrade to a studio apartment with the extra room as we did. Well worth it.
It was an entire two bedroom apartment, was able to cook for ourselves. Everything is within walking distance from the apartment, kfc, grocery, health center, fast food etc etc. The host went out of his way to provide transportation & he was very helpful altogether. Booking again for my next stay in Trinidad.
I liked the fact that there was a free airport shuttle to and from the airport. The staff was very friendly and well trained. The rooms were well cleaned and the food in the restaurant was delicious. I would definitely stay there again on my next visit to Trinidad.
love this hotel. found out it was actually a hilton. safe neighborhood. right next to president of Trinidad. close to some of the top hotels in Trinidad. have a market place and cafe. would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. definitely will be returning
Santa Cruz
The House of Zen is a more modern apartment. It was clean, comfortable and inviting. Quiet neighborhood and the hosts were right at our fingertips ready and willing to assist. We even got history lessons about Trinidad.
The breakfast choices were excellent. The service was outstanding. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I will be using this hotel on my return to Trinidad.
Port-of-Spain
Very good hosts and the accommodation met all my expectations without a doubt one day I will return to Trinidad and Tobago I will return to this apartment
The place is fantastic. It's our number one choice when in Trinidad. Host are lovely, the apartments are phenomenal and comfortable.
The shuttle service was efficient, and the location was close to the airport. This was important to us as we overnighted in Trinidad.
The customer service is unlike any other I’ve ever experienced in Trinidad and Tobago!
