I have stayed here several times. It is very expensive so it makes a lovely treat. Personally I like that it is all „auf Deutsch“. I like to experience a place from that country‘s perspective, plus I can work on my German!

The property is around 13 miles from Olma Messen St. The room is quite modern and super comfortable. Breakfeast quite complete and with plenty of local food. Gonten is a tiny and charming small town, nice landscapes around.

Offering panoramic views of the Alpstein Massif, Hotel Alpenblick is located in the village of Schwende in the Canton of Appenzell. It offers direct mountain views in all rooms. What a beautiful Hotel Alpenblick is. I'm not one to praise something that doesn't deserve it however this property is absolutely a 10 out of 10. The Hotel was beautiful and spotlessly clean. The property looks new as it is meticulously cared for and the room size was generous as was the bathroom. Out of all the Hotels we stayed in over 3 weeks, this was by far the best. It's not a typical Hotel, it has the beautiful Swiss feel of years gone by, a Gasthaus. The food in the restaurant was also 10 out of 10. The views of the countryside were absolutely stunning and just a minute of so up the road was the Ebenalp cable car up to Berggasthaus Aescher. The owners of the property were lovely, warm and friendly as too were the staff.

Very cute but small hotel in the heart of Appenzell. Very well taken care of, renovated and very clean. Small rooms but practical and comfortable. Excellent breakfast with very high quality of products and great presentation. Really a gem, sparkling clean and beautiful all over.

Great room layout for families with the kids room nested inside the suite. The bathroom and fixtures are high quality and very comfortable. The service is super friendly and helpful, they went above and beyond to make sure we had the best possible stay. The restaurant is high-end and family friendly, the wine card is top notch. Overall an excellent stay. Also, the self-service free water and drinks are great, though the delicious fresh tap water is still better. Excellent location close to the rail network that provides access to the whole region.
