Great value hotel with comfortable room & bed for a short stay.
Breakfast included is really good, with delicious juice and coffee too.
Staff is also very warm and friendly, as you would expect from friendly Costa Ricans :)
Location is a little bit further out from downtown but that didn’t bother us. It meant less traffic around the local neighbourhood which is mainly residential.

buena vista, comida rica a un excelente precio. la langosta de lujo.
There is no reason to go to Liberia. It’s a transit point: to lovely beaches to the west; mountains and jungle to the east; and the Nica border to the north. That being said, the Chinese restaurant & the Indian restaurant (Masala) in the center of town were both very tasty! The international airport, which is close by brings in tourists traveling in the north of Costa Rica.

We had to go all the way downtown for a bank machine.
We had to go all the way downtown for a bank machine. Information, such as bus scheduling was non existant at the station. You had to find someone who was familiar with the buses. There's not a lot of reason to stay in Liberia. It's more of a "stop off" due to the airport. Most eating places are downtown. There's not a great selection outside the core. Liberia is not a tourist friendly city.

Liberia is a good place to start traveling around Guanacaste...
Liberia is a good place to start traveling around Guanacaste and the Pacific northwest of Costa Rica..A good place to arrive as the airport is not as busy as San Jose. There are stores, including a large Walmart where you can get supplies. But I would not stay in the city except for 1 night when flying.

Liberia isn't a tourist town.
Liberia isn't a tourist town. It does allow you to see real Costa Rican life - which is the best part of travel. We walked all over town and always felt safe. It is also better to stay here than further north because you can catch tours that pick up travelers in Liberia.

I really enjoy Liberia.
I really enjoy Liberia. The downtown area by the park has lots of shopping. I went into a pharmacy and they had a free dr. who quickly diagnosed my problem and prescribed a medication that worked very well. There is a family run laundry with a half day turnaround. I really enjoyed a restaurant where the ceasar salad was made in front of you. It is two blocks from the main intersection on the right hand side of the road.
What would be very useful is a map of the city. We asked locals for directions and they were very helpful in directing us to what we needed.
My room was a nice oasis amount the gardens. It is very relaxing! It's a family-owned hotel. The whole family is involved in the business. I met them all and they are wonderful and welcoming! Breakfast was delicious - there were numerous choices. The hotel was a 10-minute walk to Liberia. And, there is a supermarket next door as well as two restaurants across the street. They were helpful with booking tours and setting up my airport pickup and drop off. I would definitely stay here again!
The staff and energy of the place made me feel safe and at home. The staff had great recommendations on how to get around, were diligent to pick me up from the airport and were always available to assist.
The outside kitchen in the back was equipped with what you needed to cook. The rocking chairs and hammocks placed throughout were very comfortable and all the plants and trees were beautiful.
It was a very convenient distance, everything in Liberia was very walkable from the hostel.
We chose this hotel because it was very near the airport since we had a morning flight. It is very convenient for that. The hotel runs a free shuttle to the airport every 15 minutes or so...but be sure to make reservations on the shuttle. The staff was very welcoming and helpful...although, you get the feeling there needs to be more wait-staff in the restaurant. Those that were there were working "frantically."
This in a quiet neighborhood, limited restuarants in walking distance, IT is quite a distance from the airport and a bit challenging to find but the rooms were fine and the breakfast was fantastic. The staff very friendly and helpful. The font gate is always closed and locked so you must ring the bell to enter. IT is not luxurious but a fine simple local place to stay in Liberia.
In our opinion - from what we saw in Liberia while our 2-day stay - it is the best choice for a good and not too expensive hotel in Liberia.
We enjoyed our stay and the staff was really, really nices and helpful! The breakfast was great, the rooms and the garden was good.
The short distance from Liberia International Airport, 15 min by car, was perfect for us.
Wonderful 'cowboy for a day' experience (but has an early start 06:00)
Location near entrance to National Park and with waterfalls and hot springs within the hotel's own property
Waterfalls and river pools
Huge varied tasty choice at breakfast buffet
Having choice of cafe, formal dining or buffet restaurant for other meals
Clean, good wifi, AC works great, near the airport, safe! Completely enclosed area shared with one other unit (2 story duplexes connected by private laundry), nice garden, secure private parking. The hosts live across the way (culdesac, so private!) And are super nice, helpful... We will stay here whenever we can!
Very nice staff and great location. It was good for my one night near the airport, as I needed to be there early the next day. They arranged a cab for me which was super helpful! The AC in the room worked great and there was a good shower with plenty of hot water. Dinner and breakfast were pretty good too.
Hotel del Rio is a small, family owned hotel/motel. it was great for our use for an overnight to get to the Liberia Airport early the next morning. It is in a nice residential area but not near the town center or any restaurants or shopping. There is a small, friendly cafe on site.
The Tipico breakfast was good. Nice large pool with a waterfall. A shallow children pool and play area. There are several peacocks that roam the grounds. Beside the hotel is a shopping mall with grocery store and bank.
About a 20 minute drive to Liberia airport.
Location is very convenient if you stay here for a first/last night after/before your flight from Liberia Airport (which was my case). The staff is super friendly and the pool area is well taken care of. Breakfast is ok. Good for one night stay.
Nice cabins on landscaped grounds. Lots of birds around. Seemed secluded even though you're just near Liberia. Air conditioning was nice. Patio was cute with umbrellas of turtles. Breakfast included and was very good.
The restaurant was packed at the same time because the hotel was booked out with a ton of guests meant to leave from the airport that morning but the food was great and the waitstaff was so patient and kind.
Very convenient hotel for flying through Liberia Airport. The pool area was very nice and we enjoyed the bar, which had good food. The room was everything we needed and was very clean.
