We like to see shows at the Fox Theater, and when we do, we stay at the Moxy hotel and walk there. There are several great eateries in the neighborhood. I recommend HotBird if you like fried chicken! We have never felt unsafe walking this neighborhood. There are a lot of homeless people, which is sad to see.

Oakland is a unique diverse town full of so many different types of cool cultures. I like the culture from The East, West and the North because each area has a different flavor or style to add to the town. There is one thing that bothers me. The homeless crisis is excessive. Affordable housing especially to born and raised in Oakland individuals are housed after out of towers. The majority of Oakland's employers are not even from Oakland. It would be nice to allow Oakland to return to Oakland and allow only Oakland to accommodate it's visitors instead of our visitors becoming our hosts in our own Town and selling our products back to us, ITS A STEAL before our eyes .

Oakland has a high population of homeless people I wasn't aware of. Some areas were better than other but every where you looked was broke down cars with broken widows and tagged on, along with trash everywhere, homeless people and tagging everywhere .
Maybe it's just the area I ended up at, hoping there's more than what I seen.!!!

I think West coast cities are damaged goods at this point.
I think West coast cities are damaged goods at this point.
I will not recommend San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, Portland, Seattle nor Vancouver.
These places used to have terrific live music, comedy, food, safe walkable neighborhoods and scenery at prices that were justified but the homelessness, filth, gunfire and in-your-face politics make it less enjoyable.
I would sooner go to a smaller city like Salt Lake, Cleveland, Tacoma, Richmond now. Some of those places have some of the same challenges but the prices will be lower and you can enjoy yourself without as much filth and less political distraction.

The only thing we were able to find to do in the district...
The only thing we were able to find to do in the district was Lake Merritt's gardens and lakeside walk.
Shopping was almost non-existent, with most shopping areas full of shops for lease, etc. It seems that if you want to do anything you go on the BART to San Francisco.
We did find a nice cafe - "Kinfolx" 1951 Telegraph Avenue.
I was very disappointed that when we arrived this hotel had been closed for two years
this caused stress and anxiety for myself and my Austistic grand daughter. we were left stranded having to find alternative accommodation at more money which I had not budgeted for
I have tried to call several times ti discuss this but cannot get through
could you please call me on 07757306695 to discuss and to confirm my other booking I have in June exists as I have lost my faith in booking.com
many thanks
The room I stayed in was a large corner room, which I requested because I wanted a quiet room -- but it was unfortunately not quiet in that hotel. Glad I requested a quiet room, though -- highly recommend that you do, too. The Washington Inn is in the perfect location -- only walking distance from downtown Oakland, including the Fox Theatre. The room felt safe once inside. Definitely not a family-friendly hotel but ideal for pleasure-seekers interested in a night on the town.
The rooms are very clean and pleasant and the location is about as good as it gets in downtown Oakland. Close to the airport, next to a BART station, and within walking distance to some great food options and late night Chinese diners across the street. The free breakfast is decent, and I liked the refillable water stations. The rooms have microwaves! That was also a nice touch you don't usually see outside extended stay or serviced apartments.
We liked how close it was to the airport and the Oakland arena as we were there for a concert. The property itself is fenced in so it feels safer. The breakfast was sufficient and we enjoyed having it. The shuttle to the airport was nice as well. Taxi drivers could get in and out of the property so we didn't have to walk around the unsafe part.
Well, what I really didn’t like was the fact there was no parking for guest. The hotel offers valet parking with an expense of $30.00. The room was small when compare to other Hampton Hotels. The employee were not that friendly, and breakfast didn’t meet expectations. I will never stay at the Hampton on Oakland again.
I never made it to the property.
It was advertised as having an Airport shuttle & (after a 19 hour journey) was told (took almost 20 minutes to answer the phone) “ the shuttle only goes to Oakland Airpirt NOT San Francisco.
Then told me it would be $160 round trip for a taxi which was more than the cost of the room….
Availability was convenient. Location was perfect for everywhere I needed to go. Reasonable pricing. Awesome friendly staff. Lot parking and very clean rooms and the hotel itself was well maintained.(except the elevator lol they fixed it) Everything smelled clean and fresh.
The room was nice, bed was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was nice. Heater was new and worked well. Manager in office was friendly. Convenient to Lake area, downtown Oakland, Piedmont Ave, Berkeley. About 15 min walk, 5 min drive/bike ride to BART.
It was very convenient being so close to the airport. The free shuttle service to and from the airport was a big draw for using this particular hotel. Rooms were clean and staff was friendly. Overall very happy with our short stay.
I liked the location, it was the reason i picked this hotel. I wanted to be on the water and by the online representation, it looked like a well established core hotel on the water in the middle of a lot of activities.
At the hôtel, the hosts are very welcoming and friendly.
Shuttle from airport (need to call them when arriving at airport)
Close to the airport when you arrive late or leave early
Breakfast is correct
Room was very big & spacious. This is the best hotel I have ever stayed at. Everything was excellent, room size, view, & breakfast. When in the bay area this will be our go to hotel from now on.
It had a really nice and clean facility. I was very satisfied with the cozy atmosphere around the house. It has a good neighborhood. I feeled like the hotel gave us a careful consideration.
We stayed at this hotel because we were attending a concert at the Oakland Arena. Location was good and we felt safe. Staff was professional and helpful. Room was clean and comfy.
