The host was super welcoming, but also left us to do our own thing which was great. Beautiful room, we had the honey loft. The view was the most incredible thing to wake up to.

We were welcomed with beautiful smiles. Our room was fresh and clean. The property was freshly mowed and well maintained, with heaps of room. Congrats to Antony and Ramari for all the hard work they have achieved so far during their renovations. All the best to you both.

I enjoyed my stay...very homely...being able to cook your meals actually was a bonus because most places you can't... only microwave at the others...bed was really comfortable loved the bathroom...for a cabin stay it was really nice.

The guy at reception was so accommodating as he changed the room to suit my need. I was on crutches and he moved me from a upstair room to a ground level. I don't think he realised how much it helped my situation. Will definitely stay there again
Opotiki is a very quiet and sleepy town. There are just a few restaurants. They closed early. There is however a good supermarket not too far, I think it’s called Nat’s. Good to get your supplies for meals. We didn’t stay long but didn’t see much to do. But please refer to the official guides as I’m sure you might find something that we missed. We are an elderly couple, so we do not look for extreme sports or vigorous hikes.

I got to meet the locals and had an insight into their world. They were friendly and helpful. The area is beautiful and the weather was so lovely it made work a pleasure. I enjoyed the best most fluffiest pancakes at the Hot Bread Cafe. I highly recommend. Taking my dog to each beach along my travels ment he really got a good workout. Walking off the delicious lunch with a colleague/friend along one of the many beaches was invigorating.

Museum was one of the best in New Zealand.
Museum was one of the best in New Zealand. We spent over 2. 5 hours there. Wonderful exhibits donated by local woman who left half a million dollars to the museum. Very interesting, photos and write ups. World class museum, a must see. It is very well run and looked after. Worth a visit to Opotiki just to visit this.
The Anglican church in the centre was beautiful too, and some interesting but sad history to read on a board outside. Great restaurant The Royal, wonderful cafe opposite Subway. Great walks and beautiful beaches especially Bryan's Beach. Well positioned not far from Whakatane. Great place to visit.

Opotiki is a very convenient location for those bound for Tauranga, Gisborne or anywhere on the East Cape. Natural beauty within a short drive too. It has all the essentials and lots of other 'wants'.
Travellers should note that as most takeaways close at 7pm, consider having your main meal in the middle of the day (or en-route to Opotiki) if you are dead set on having only 'that choice' for dinner!

Quiet wee town - we visited in winter.
Quiet wee town - we visited in winter. Pretty setting, stunning river and great looking bike track along - maybe in summer! Plenty of choice for dinner/lunch in town - not open late but all good. Easy access to Whakatane.
We enjoyed walking on the beach which is a 5 minute walk down the driveway and across the street. The large windows catch the view of the ocean and the stars in the sky were spectacular! Our host was friendly, and warmly accepted an early check in. It was very relaxing! Their is a nice deck area that you could sit and see the ocean and listen to the waves hit the beach. It is a oasis paradise !
Very comfortable bed, clean, great wifi and TV.
The location is superb, located on a very lightly travelled road and with a long, lightly used beach just across the street. The property is surrounded by native forest and as a bonus the "Christmas Trees" were in bloom (also known as pohutukawa tree, Metrosideros excelsa). The only noise was bird song and the crashing of the waves. Stephan is a gracious host making this a place we would love to return to.
The house location was ideal. The house is truly lovely, clean and spacious !!! It has all the amenities of home. The communication and instructions were clear, the hosts were great. I would recommend a stay at "Mary's Place Opotiki" to any person and hope I may have the opportunity to have another stay some time in the near future. Kia ora Bev (Whangarei, Aotearoa NZ).
5 minute drive to the Rest home I visit, which is often from Coromandel, I wanted somewhere close and Opotiki Holiday Park is the only place I have made up my mind, I want to stay, it is very convenient and I feel very comfortable staying there, I always book a room for two just incase I bring a friend along...roadtrip.
The pod is clean and modern. The shower was excellent and the bed was very comfortable. There were plenty of towels and cooking utensils. I really appreciated the clothesline and the hose for hosing down my sandy stuff after going to the beach.
The WIFI was strong. Waiotahe Drifts is a safe and quiet area.
The two bedroom apartment we had was a great base for our business trip to Opotiki. Sadly we were working such long hours we didn’t get to spend a lot of time there but we’re looking forward to returning and being able to enjoy the space and surroundings a bit more on our next trip.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the home is set among an orchard 5 mins from the Opotiki CBD and is impeccably well maintained. It is an incredibly spacious home with wonderful amenities such as two fridges two cook tops two lounges a large outdoor entertainment area and a carport.
Great, relaxing setting. Lovely host & facilities. Breakfast lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed the local bush walk she recommended & we found a great park in Opotiki (newly developed) to relax with our picnic lunch & reading b4 continuing our journey. Seen Opotiki in a new light. Thanks.
The location is beautiful and the owners are super friendly. The cabin is surprisingly warm and the beds are incredibly comfortable. I have to travel to the same location for work again in a month's time and will likely re-book this cottage for my little family and I.
Easy to find and comfortable cabin. Clean with everything you need to spend a night or week. Hosts were Easy to communicate with and friendly. It's a short drive to the town, so a car is a necessity. We enjoyed our time there and wished we could have stayed longer.
Very modern and immaculately presented accommodation about 10 minutes from Opotiki where I was working. A rural property with great views of the sea. Only had a short stay but really enjoyed the studio. The kitchen had everything I required for a light meal.
Tasman holiday park is a beautiful little peice of paradise tucked away in the perfect spot by the beach. Perfect get away from city life. The staff was very welcoming and have the best vibes. Definitely heading back next time we head home back to opotiki.
When we showed up, they originally put us in a cabin that was different than what we had booked, however, they were kind and accommodated for this and put us in suitable accommodation where we had sufficient space for the four of us.
View is outstanding. Wood patio at the edge of the front yard overlooking an expansive coastline is gorgeous. Easy walk to the beach with provided beach towels. Perched on a hill, it is serene and quiet.
Location for Opotiki is excellent being close enough to the shopping area and a lovely cafe across the road for breakfast. The staff were friendly and inviting and made us feel welcome from the start.
