I loved the location.... so close to the train station but quiet. The staff was amazing, helpful and well organized and excellent English at the front desk. The room was good size and very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Primarily Japanese guests

The hosts were charming and helpful. The breakfasts and dinners were copious and good, and very appreciated considering that the location is far from stores and restaurants for those without a car. Because of this, it was also very quiet, which is appreciated.

Nikko is one of those places that looks like tourist-central on paper but it's worth going there. It's quite near Tokyo so don't worry about long train rides. The temples and nature in Nikko, and walking around will already do you good, and on top of that there's some fun-parks nearby. Kinugawa onsen is a city nearby with places to enjoy onsen, and I enjoyed going there but it's not for everyone, so do you research.

This is my second time to Nikko but this time doing an overnight stay in Nikko and then then one night in Kinugawaonsen. And we did the Sengyogahara hike with Yunoko falls, Kegon falls and Chuzenji Lake besides exploring the Toshogu shrine. The Nikko pass is a value for money pass enabling us to explore the different places within Nikko and Kinugawaonsen. The timing was just right with the full blooms of sakura especially in the Toshogu shrine areas.

Most restaurants around Nikko Stations close early.
Most restaurants around Nikko Stations close early. Only a few are open after 7 pm. Beyond Central Nikko or in outer Nikko/ Oku-Nikko there are are more interesting scenic hiking trails and sightseeing spots. Need to plan as bus frequencies are affected by weather and waiting time can be long.

We visited quite a few places during our two week stay in Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto and then we took a two day bike ride from Imabari to Onomichi). Nikko was the most beautiful of the beautiful places we visited. Took a bus ride up the hill and hiked in the forest which boasts two types of bear, deer and monkeys. The temple was beautiful and we enjoyed trying local food. We each had a "Yuba set" at a local restaurant.

The rooms were freezing cold no heating and it was -5 inside the hotel. They provided us with one thin blanket nothing like advertised, the windows were open and unable to close. We are having to seek medical help as one of my friends has developed hypothermia. No food no drink and the toilet facility does not flush.
Said in advert the beds would be made up for us. After a vicious scolding by the owners wife we had to awkwardly make up our own beds with no instructions at all.
If you like being shouted at, sleeping on a solid cold floor with a stone for a pillow this is definitely the place for you.
Didn't really wanna even give the one star but no choice for 0*.

Nikko is a lovely small place.
Nikko is a lovely small place. The local Chinese on the high street has amazing food, it has a very small door and would be easy to miss, but make the effort to find it.
The temples are amazing, but I loved the mountains, if you like trekking then you will love Nikko.
the rate is very good compared to other properties at Nikko, which is a very expensive location when it comes to accommodations. the room is large and clean, kitchen utensils are all available on site. stuff replies very fast when you have questions and can speak in both Japanese and English. the surrounding area is very quiet and beautiful in the morning. and it is also a very safe neighborhood. Nikko is also very very beautiful, loved it and will come back.
We stayed at Sanga Nikko one night. The hotel is really nice with classic Japanese rooms. We found the beds cozy and the hotel very clean. It is also really important to mention the kindness and the availability of the owner (and he speaks a very good English!). He was so kind to give us a ride at the station with all the luggage and made us use the kitchen even after the check out. So I definitely suggest to go here!
Onsens were beautiful. location is amazing. they provide a once daily free shuttle to and from the hotel and Nikko station. traditional Japanese meals were provided - I was vegan and they accommodated for that. Room was large and atmosphere was serene. Saw monkeys whilst I was in the onsen, had the onsen all to myself one morning. beautiful. staff don’t speak much English but provide friendly service all the same.
The house is cozy and very chill! It’s very spacious and convenient! It’s two minute away from a grocery store and 10 second away from a taxi company that provide day tour services. What makes this place even more amazing is the staff! Yoshi’s hospitality is like on another level! He is kind and super helpful throughout our stay not only in Nikko but throughout our entire trip in Japan! Big shout out to Yoshi san!
The location of this hotel could not be better. There are plenty of restaurants around in walking distance, but more importantly you have access on foot to all the more well known cultural sites in Nikko. We booked a traditional style room and it lived up to expectations. There was a piano bar in the hotel at night that was quiet but beautiful. Also the view was wonderful.
Super Excellent hotel to Stay If Options you chose to stay Downhill Near Nikko Station
Views are Amazing from the Room
Staff are Very Courteous towards the Guests
Early Check -in was Smooth
They Have also arranged a Crib for My kid is 6 months old
Great Value for the Money
Only Issue I faced is there is no restaurant in Hotel , Rest All 10/10
Resort is away from the city in an onsen area that is excellent for relaxation. Walking around the hotel and lake areas was excellent. Service, especially the restaurant service, was flawless. Traditional Japanese meals in the hotel were fantastic. Shuttle bus provides the convenience getting in and out of the hotel from the Tobu-Nikko station (check pick up time).
Hidden gem! We loved our stay at this authentic traditional Japanese hotel, walking in kimono and resting in onsen. The rooms were cozy and spacious. The hotel staff was really friendly and helpful. The location is great, surrounded by nature and a short hike. We went for waterfalls and AMAZING Nikko shrines just in 15-30 min drive. Highly recommend!
We had a delightful two-night stay at the hotel where the staff warmly welcomed us, making us feel right at home. The food was exceptional, and we would enthusiastically suggest this hotel for a refreshing getaway from city life.
Accessing the hotel from Nikko station was straightforward, and it boasts a splendid view of Chuzenji Lake.
Room was cozy and a bit bigger than business hotels in the city (e.g. Tokyo, Utsunomiya) with ample floor space to fully open luggage. Decent spread for the free breakfast with both Western and Japanese options. Staff also spoke English well and made clarifications to better understand questions.
1. The hotel is about a 20 minutes walk from the famous shrine of Nikko. It's also about 10 minutes from the train station.
2. The bathrooms and showers are very clean.
3. The capsules are quite large with space to walk around in.
4. They offer food and lots of info about the surrounding area.
The hotel is located next to the Chuzenji Lake and the walking trail. The bus stop (from/to Nikko) is just right at doorstep of the hotel. The foods are all great and staffs are so nice. The onsen is quite small but it’s ok for me.
We rented a suite and the room was in the annex - modern, large and great views. It’s in an awesome location for visiting the Nikko National Park.
The main hotel is olde world - coming from a different era
The staff were incredibly helpful and thoughtful, the room was perfect, spacious, and the whole hotel was very clean. The location is fantastic if you plan to visit the famous Nikko temples and shrines!
Very nice place to stay if your plan is to rest by the lake. Nice outdoor onsen. Nice porch. Clean and comfortable. Hotel shuttle bus from Tobu-Nikko station is very useful. Cute room key.
Hotel was accessible to many places and near the station. Rooms are old Japanese styl, spacious
but clean. Free coffee at the lobby too, which is great.
