A beautiful hotel with great design and lay out, ensuring all rooms and terraces profit from the fantastic view. We loved the lighting, the view from the terrace, the exceptionally clean rooms with lovely bedding and towels. The privacy, discretion and quiet were really appreciated, and it was also lovely not to feel like we had to rush out to vacate the room for cleaning (and often it wasn’t easy leaving the luxury of that view with coffee and reading on the terrace!)
We thank Anna, Marina and Nikita on reception for helping us have such a wonderful, healthy and relaxing holiday. Particular thanks to Anna for helping with the hire car and very good advice for a nervous driver/passenger on the cliff roads and tracks of the island!) And Nikita’s map was really useful thanks. And also a big thank you to the cleaning staff and room service team, the cleaning really was exceptional and what a luxury having breakfast delivered to our terrace every morning. Thanks to Marina and all the team for such a lovely stay, and apologies for delay with review - today on a dark, cold wintery day in UK we definitely wish we were back there now!

The room was nicely decorated and cleaned regularly. Any slight issues ( door handle broke ) were immediately put right. Dimitris was very helpful with any advice required and arranged car hire at a good rate for me, also a reasonably priced taxi to meet me at the airport on arrival. The views were very good - over the harbour area and most of the Chora area up past the windmills to the castle. Sunrise worth getting up early for too. Very quiet generally . A slight slope up from the main road and just a couple of short flights of steps to the apartment. 5 minutes walk to the restaurants in Chora. Walk down to the harbour takes about 20 mins at a steady pace., passes a supermarket and grocery shop. Take your time coming back up . No rush anyway. Worth hiring a car for a few days at least ( the main road is good for most local places - further on it turns to a rocky road surface in places so you might need a jeep type car if you want to be really adventurous and visit the more remote beaches ). But most traffic is light and flows at a slowish pace and there's at least 4 beaches within 20 minutes drive that are on the good road.

Location was excellent as we stayed in the viva mare studios near the port .The owner kindly changed our room as the traditional studio was beautiful but situated high up in the village. Excellent host very helpful and obliging.
The traditionally-built Viva Mare Studios is located in Astypalaia Island, just 30 metres from Pera Gialos Beach and within 1 km from the island’s town.

Anixi Studios is a wonderfully friendly and welcoming place that is located in the outskirts of Livadi, a quiet and peaceful village about 1 mile from the main town (Chora). The studio rooms are well appointed with comfy beds, air conditioning, cooking facilities, fridge, bathroom/shower, and balcony with an attractive view. The owners are kind, generous, and friendly people and made me feel most welcome, almost as part of their family.
There are plenty of restaurants within a 10 minute walk of the apartment as well as the beach at Livadi. Overall, it's a wonderful place to stay if you are looking for the peace and quiet of rural Greece.
Offering panoramic views to Astypalaia Town, the castle and the Aegean Sea, Melograno features modern design villas with an outdoor hot tub and fireplace. Astypalaia Town is 300 metres away.

Spacious, attractively decorated and well-equipped apartment with nice views over the port area and out to sea. When the umbrellas were down in the adjoining apartments you could also enjoy views of the Castle. Wi-Fi excellent and proximity to bakery, supermarket(s) and restaurants really handy. I appreciated the regular cleaning too - thank you! If you go and you want to eat nearby, I strongly recommend you try the Cretan Mezze on the other side of the town beach.

The view was incredible.
Froso, the owner, was outstanding 👏
Another cute Greek island. I have been to 15+ Greek islands over 50 times in total. It is similar to many other Greek islands. Small, cute. The castle and the old town looks really lovely. We went in mid-August. Although the island had probably around 5000 visitors, because there are few restaurants and options, all places were packed. Most of my Greek friends consider Astypalaia as the best Greek island, however in my view it's fine, cute, but I wouldn't say it's more beautiful than many other Greek islands.

The Chora looks great and picturesque, especially from distance. Nice walk to the castle and great to walk in the small narrow streets.
Very few shops with art, local products/local art, or galleries though in the small streets. Instead there are mostly restaurants.
Most shops/restaurants are set around the area of the windmills which although nice, do not have real view (although if you walk to the castle you get a breathtaking view, but not while seated).
Difficult to park in busy times

I've traveled to many islands in Greece.
I've traveled to many islands in Greece. Asytpalaia is the friendliest andprettiest of them all. The town beach is clean, the other beaches like jewels. Food is generally very good and fresh.
Everything is in walking distance, some steep steps involved but you can't have the hypnotic beauty and tranquility here without a little gentle pain.
The town and streets are spotless and the numerous cats cute and well looked after by the people.
Local grocers on the port have just about everything you need and if you can possibly tire of the food at Ageri in Hora or Astropolis in Livadi theres a great Pizza and pasta place right down on the port.

Not sure I want to encourage more people to visit, as this island of less than 2,000 inhabitants is indeed a hidden gem! We were charmed and delighted by this little island as a whole, and in Chora I was pleasantly surprised to find wonderful, chic boutiques, an abundance of phenomenal tavernas, exceptional restaurants (Akti, Cucina), well balanced cocktail bars and a lively atmosphere, as well as some of the best baclava I've ever. It's not for the faint of heart as there are a lot of stairs and hills to climb to get to the castle and the port.
The initiative to get the island fully electric is also commended, Astybus was a fantastic alternative to hiring a car and we used it almost every day - there are several pick up points in Chora, which makes it a great base to explore.
We'll definitely be back!

Beautiful town with houses set on the hill down from the castle to the port. Lots of little stairs and alleys to get lost in. Spectacular views and the flowers in June were lovely. Bars and restaurants up by the windmills and also down by the port. Plenty of shops.

beautiful chora with an imposing castle that you can visit.
beautiful chora with an imposing castle that you can visit. The beaches at Livadi and the port were lovely, but a steep walk downhill to both, or steep steps down to the port. The restaurants and bars around the windmills are excellent

Owner Mike was very accommodating given that my ferry arrived early in the morning. He picked me up & brought me to the property! The property is incredibly beautiful. Each room has an attached Jacuzzi overlooking the island. The Jacuzzi was kept nice and warm given the windy conditions making it an amazing experience. The view cannot be beat. The shower had good pressure. The bed was comfortable. There was an Illy coffee machine which I now need to buy Because it made the best coffee!!
The nicest people and best service you can hope to come across during your vacation! If you're thinking about visiting the island (and you should!), Gerani Studios should be at the top of your list for accomodations.
The rooms and facilities are impeccable, tastefully decorated, and in a very convenient location, much better than you'd think for that price range. The restaurant next door is excellent as well.
We're definitely planning to stay there again in the future.
This studio was spacious and super clean! Room was cleaned everyday. I especially liked the balcony - it was big and had a great view. The best thing about this studio is the location. it’s only a few minutes from centre square and a short flight of stairs down to the ferry port. The host was lovely and picked me up from the ferry when I arrived so I didn’t have to go up the stairs with my bags. Highly recommend Gyrouli Studios, would definitely stay here again!
Wonderful hotel and fantastic breakfast - spa was also very good. The breakfast team and Marietta deserve a shout out for making us feel extremely welcome and looked after, offering lots of local recommendations, Astybus and arranging to use the spa showers before we left for the airport.
The decor in Cucina was stylish, and the food and cocktails were exceptional. We've already started planning our trip for next year.
This is a wonderful place to stay. Excellent location right next to the port with a lovely view of the harbour. We were greeted by Giannis who was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The room was exceptionally clean and well-furnished, with comfortable beds. Breakfast was delicious and was delivered to our door at our chosen time every morning. Overall, a great experience. I would highly recommend this hotel.
beautiful place, view of the most beautiful hill on the island, but above all, great service from arrival to transfer and return flight.
Great communication, place refined in every detail, great contact with the staff who constantly watches over your stay.
breakfast served in the room, possibility of renting a car which is delivered directly to the hotel.
I heartily recommend it and thank you for a wonderful stay
Best location on island in my opinion for view and walking to restaurants, bus stop, etc. Best views are in the non studio rooms. Studio rooms are down below main level, still with a view but with a telephone pole and wires and a shared terrace. If coming for a view, get the non studio rooms. Breakfast was good and varied in choices, staff was nice..a lovely stay.
Best house in Astypalaia. Amazing view, amazing decoration, extremely clean with small luxury details (variety of coffee capsules, cosmetics, first aid kit, juice, wine etc.).
Maria and Stavros were extremely accomondating, helped us carry the bags from the parking lot and they helped us with a minor medical emergency that occured during our stay.
The place was perfect. But on top of that, the owner arranged for a taxi to pick me up at the new port (5 km away from Astypalaia town) and I could go straight into the apartment. And that was at 5 am. And, when we met, I was invited to breakfast. Efrosini is simply a star.
The breakfast was amazing, the staff were so approachable, we felt like part of the family at Tholaria, it had a beautiful homely feel about it! The room was fantastic and it had a balcony with an incredible view which was so nice to wake up to!
The best location, 3 minutes walking from the castle. Close to the supermarkets and shops. Very clean and tidy. The renter also helped us with everything we needed, including suggestions about the island and booking a vehicle.
Staff was extremely helpful and they made us feel welcome. The view is just stunning and is one of the cleanest places we have ever been.
Could not recommend higher this lovely place in the wonderful island of astypalaia
we had the best stay and the staff was amazing. they helped us get a rental car when there were none available to book. location is perfect and just everything was so wonderful. would recommend staying here to everyone!
Very friendly and a great host.
They left us more time after checking out to stay in the hotel because the ship was leaving in the afternoon.
This was something we really appreciated..
The property was exactly as presented,, best location possible ,,quiet,, elite style,, graceful,, harmony in all areas. Really enjoyed wanting to stay at the suites all day!
