Lovely feel to the place and everything close by, good cafes, pubs and general shops. Duke's restaurant was very good , just by the hotel. Good cream tea in Mocas on the front . Sheltered by the beautiful cliffs either side of the town so not too windy. Decent bus service from Exeter and the station, although requires two buses. Good children's park in the centre.

Sidmouth is utterly enchanting!
Sidmouth is utterly enchanting! I feel cheated that I didn't know about it before - it's like Bath's seaside cousin! Beautiful architecture, easy to walk around and a simply wonderful cove-shaped seafront with great cliffs at either end. We are planning to stay for a week next time.

Sidmouth is a lovely town.
Sidmouth is a lovely town. Plenty of well known shops to peruse. Plenty of eateries to try out. Lots of hotels of different styles to choose from. Views are fantastic and so is the beach. Fields department store has a wide range of favourite clothing labels to explore & hopefully purchase. A very good bus service can take you to lots of Devon places and further.

Good choice of hotels and good shops in the town if the weather isn't great. (Loads of really good charity shops!)
Not many restaurants are open in the evenings (especially early in the week) so you need to book in advance. Myca, Pea Green Boat and The Loft are all good. Much more choice at lunchtime and good coffee/tea shops with lovely cakes. The Scott cinema and Marine theatre are both sweet and worth a visit.
Buses go to a few places if you don't have a car - and seem to be very reliable.
Jacobs Ladder beach and the Connaught Gardens are well worth visiting and are nicer than the town beach yet still very close to the centre.
Be aware that rocks etc can fall from the cliffs! The Jurassic coastline is amazing but it can crumble suddenly.

Sidmouth was a beautiful little seaside town with plenty of places to eat and drink!
Dog friendly beach in winter and lots of dog-friendly pubs/cafes! Beach is shingle/large pebble so not for everyone, but there’s a promenade/path the whole way along!
Lots of nice little independent shops & charity shops!
Parking gets very busy so you’re better off parking in the ‘weekend and walk’ car park slightly outside town - not far at all!
We visited in February but I’ve been told is gets very busy from May onwards.
There is a folk festival on the first weekend of August every year which I hear is great (but very busy)!
Lovely apartment in excellent location a couple of minutes walk from the seafront and the town centre. We have always previously stayed in hotels in Sidmouth, but this was much more convenient, especially with the guaranteed parking space and we would definitely consider staying again. The hosts were very helpful and addressed a small problem we had very quickly.
Huge room, lovely decor, very comfy bed. Appreciated the home made cookies and Nespresso maker.
Huge shower room/ wet room. Good shower. Very nice shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and hand cream; all for sale in reception.
Great cooked breakfast included.
Really good Sunday roast in the pub restaurant, and no need to book as guests of the hotel.
The hotel staff were very polite & courteous & nothing was too much trouble for them. The ambiance was one of calm & you instantly felt relaxed. Lovely building & decor matched brilliantly. Loved everything about the place. Rooms were large, bed comfortable & food was delicious. Grounds kept very tidy. Easy walk into Sidmouth from the hotel.

Enjoyed the Zinfandel!!
The hotel was bright light and clean.
Lovely aspect. Nice old hotel.
Fantastic hotel. Best breakfast by far in any hotel I have stayed in recent years. Staff were exceptional: cheerful, efficient, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Comfy rooms. Fabulous garden. Short, easy walk into Sidmouth main town.
The hotel is in a perfect place. About 5 minutes walk from beach and 2 minutes from shops. Rooms and shower were spotless. Owners and staff friendly and attentive without being intrusive. If we return to Sidmouth it will be our first choice.
The staff were very friendly. The hotel had a very relaxed atmosphere. It was decorated to a high standard and the bedroom was good size and well furnished. It was in a great location being near the wonderful Byes river walk into Sidmouth
It is not an hotel. It is a restaurant with rooms. Therefore it had limited facilities. We loved the quirky rooms and it’s position in Sidmouth. Very relaxed and the staff were delightful.
The Kingswood Hotel is perfectly located on the seafront and just a two minute stroll into the centre of Sidmouth. There are good bars and restaurants within easy walking distance.
Location, five minutes over the hill to Sidmouth. The room, big, clean, well stocked, fab shower. Liz, super kind generous host. The breakfast! Amongst the best we ever had.
Dan and Megan where the perfect hosts, excellent breakfast cooked by Dan with their own chicken eggs. This is definately a hotel I would return to time and time again
