I couldn't fault the hotel, it was lovely. The room was great, the facilities were clean. The food was amazing. The pool was a little smaller than we expected but it was great, it was clean and it wasnt too cold. Everything was clean and tidy, the staff was lovely, it was an overall great stay.

Lovely hotel in beautiful grounds. We stayed as a family group and were all pleased with rooms (when the need arose for a room change due to plumbing issues, this was done immediately with no fuss). Breakfast was very good with lots of choice and freshly cooked to order. Rooms were quiet, clean and comfortable and staff friendly.

The location was ideal for what I wanted as I needed to attend some performances held on the Market Square in Preston City Centre.
I like the self check-in side of things, as it allowed independence.
It was also very near to the train station and the lovely little park in front of the building was ideal to relax and enjoy the sunshine.

I was visiting family so that was good, It has tried to be a cafe society and there are some nice small cafe's and artisan bars but the people are depressing, seem happy to walk round eating burgers and drinking cans of beer. like all towns lots of empty properties, charity shops etc.
Will be good when the Harris museum opens again next year.

I only visit when I have to, visiting family.
I only visit when I have to, visiting family. I have made several trips over four years. First impression was of a grubby town, streets and public spaces covered in litter. Sprawling industrial parks on the outskirts. Ubiquitous pavement parking makes it dangerous pulling out of residential side streets. I have found little of cultural interest to do in the city, apart from the museum, which has been closed for refurbishment. No decent venues for live music or theatre that I am aware of. Easy enough to get a basic and pleasant meal from the usual restaurant chains. I haven't made much attempt to research into more interesting venues for eating out, apart from RK dining which is great for vegetarian/Asian takeaways. I think there is a good range of different cuisines if you look for it. I guess the University is Preston's saving grace from being a purely industrial town. It is reasonably easy to navigate the city centre on foot or by car, and regular buses. It does have a good number of well maintained and accessible public parks, and a good walking route via the Guild wheel. Brockholes is a good place for nature, although close to a motorway. A range of pleasant areas of Lancashire countryside are a short drive outside city.

Preston is a lovely town.
Preston is a lovely town. I visit because I have close family there, but I wouldn't say it is a hub for tourists. There are fantastic attractions, like Hoghton Tower, and the downtown area is very quaint. When with family, we usually go to a great fairly local pub or other restaurant for lunch/dinner, and there are plenty of those with great food and ambiance. I love going for walks in the local area.

Love this area at Barton and surrounding areas of it.
Love this area at Barton and surrounding areas of it.
We love the Barton Grange garden centre and the lovely resteraunts in the pubs in the local area are really friendly.
The spa facilities at barton Manor are really good and ecelant friendly staff there too.
The only positives I can think of is that the hotels location is very good with easy access to/from the M6 and Preston. Also, the bed and pillows were perfectly fine and I did have a good night's sleep. My room faced onto the river so had a nice view and was relatively quiet - there was always a constant background noise of traffic however much less I imagine than rooms on the otherside of the building that face straight out onto the road.
Breakfast was probably the best cooked breakfast I have ever had in a small UK hotel. Location was initially concerning as it was on the main A59 trunk road and opposite the BAe factory but in fact the room ( at the back) was very quiet and the road and factory caused no issues despite our stay being mid-week.
But the staff were the best thing! So friendly and welcoming and smiling. Helpful and polite but convivial.
Recommended by Booking.com when original booking elsewhere was cancelled day before visit (Thanks for nothing, Stanley Street Apartments!) I am glad they did tho. Lovely, spotless house. Quiet area, despite being on edge of city centre. 4 bedrooms, double bed in 3 and a smaller single. Everything you'd need for a stay, even fresh milk in fridge. Free WiFi and Amazon TV also. Will use again when next in Preston.
Lovely modern apartment with great facilities - especially the bath😍 The apartment was nice and clean and the bed was super comfortable! Short walk into Preston city centre. No car park on site but there is a car park a 2 minute walk away (£10.00 for 24 hours). The sweets and biscuits in the room were a nice touch and the complimentary upgrade made our day. We would highly recommend 😊
Had to book into hotel at short notice due to train being terminated in Preston as line was closed. The room was great, lovely comfy bed and nice hot shower. Breakfast was included with my room, good choice of hot and cold food plus plenty of decent coffee. Check in and check out was easy. Would definitely recommend and would happily use again.
Good location not far from Preston train station and close to my employment.
Big spacious room with WiFi and tea / coffee making facilities, very comfy big double bed. Toilet with bath and shower.
Big wall mounted TV connected to net with lots of apps.
Takeaways and pubs in walking distance.
Perfect location, directly outside train station and near shops/food etc. perfectly spotless rooms with incredible amounts of attention paid to every detail. The incredible staff here care so deeply about the hotel and their guests (Chloe, Ross and Lauren you're the best!!!)
Usually stop here when visiting Preston, great hotel, lovely rooms air-conditioned complementary teas coffees and biscuits, nice breakfast in the morning, attentive staff, wouldn't stop anywhere else in Preston, and just a short walk in the city highly recommend 100%
Very friendly and welcoming.
The room was lovely and clean.
The breakfast had a great choice from cereal, yogurt, cooked which was cooked to perfection.
Was only a 5 min walk from train station, and town center.
I would highly recommend the Ashwood hotel..
We took our granddaughter to Preston for a long weekend as we didn’t want to stay in Blackpool and this hotel was perfect. There are a few restaurants close by including the one on site that suited our needs.
Beds we’re comfortable and the room was clean.
There was very little to like about this hotel, the whole service and room was really not comfortable or enjoyable but I have to be honest
the staff were incredibly rude and threatened to run my property over as I waited for a taxi and it’s on their CCTV
My parents (who I booked the room for) said they loved the breakfast in the morning and that the staff was very friendly and helpful. When I visited I thought the hotel was very lovely, both in the common areas and in the guest room.
Easy to get to from the motorway and not too far from Preston City Centre. The free wifi was usable and the hotel seemed quiet despite the motorway. It was useful to have a bar area next to reception.
The breakfast was very good, though I did not have any hot drinks so do not know how good the coffee is (petrol station next door serves coffee too). The hotel has an easy, relaxed vibe.
- Room was clean, warm, spacious and inviting.
- Friendly and welcoming staff
- Central location next to the bus station with the train station and town centre only a short walk away.
Friendly cosy warm clean excellent hotel, room and bed excellent, dinner and breakfast hot tasty and plenty, friendly hospitable staff, would definitely re book to stay again.
The hotel was absolutely beautiful , very beautifully decorated , very clean and so comfortable to stay in. The staff are outstanding very reliable , reassuring and helpful.
