Almunecar is a small seaside resort which has two separate bays, one with a promenade where restaurants overlooking the sea can be found and small fishing boats used to be launched. The other bay has more activity with outdoor cocktail bars and parasols on the beach, which is close to the resorts main shops. If you want to relax for a few days in the sun this would be an ideal location but local transport is limited with no train service.

Wonderful city and extraordinary people.
Wonderful city and extraordinary people. The Roman ruins and the castle are wonderfully preserved. The archaeological museum is worth visiting. Almuñécar is a great town with very nice beaches.
Almuñécar is a great town with very nice beaches. Lots of bars and restaurants with great tapas. The fort is well worth a visit with great views of the surrounding area. The old town is very quaint and on the seafront there a walk up to a viewing platform overlooking the sea.

Lots of restaurants open even in February. Beach restaurants also open. Food shops fabulous for self caterers, meat, fish, fruit, bread and cakes all good. Even a wonderful dressmakers shop that replaced a faulty zip at minimal cost.

Almuñecar is a bit mixed. .
Almuñecar is a bit mixed. .The town has centuries of history, but a lot was ruined by wars and earthquakes. It shifted to budget tourism from sugarcane and fishing in the 1960s. Now it's going upmarket. It's surrounded by orchards and hills, and has some lovely areas of charming villas. Culturally, it's a bit special. Even though it's a small town, It has an arts centre with a decent theatre. There are concerts two or 3 times a week, even in winter, and jazz, flamenco and theatre festivals in the summer. Good restaurants, nice beaches. Public transport isn't great unless it's midsummer, so if you don't have a car, I suggest that you stay somewhere near the centre.

The rooms are really nice, free minibar included in the room is a really really great touch. Lovely sea views and easy access to the nearest beach. Only a 15 minute walk to the main beach at San Cristobal. It's a quiet private location near the end of the road so little passing traffic. This and the whole ambience make it a great place to stay as a couple and just relax and unwind.

It's clean, makes me feel like home, has absolutely everything that a modern apartment needs, the reception is 24/7, it's sunny, near everything. The owners of this particular apartment are quite welcoming and helpful if needed. The place is comfortable and quiet. Clean and tidy. Wi-fi was stable. Well stocked ample crockery, glasses, cooking untensils, pots and pans, cutlery. Beds comfortable, ample wardrobe and shelf space. Balcony space not huge but nice and adequate, chairs very nice and comfortable not the run of the mill cheap plastic ones. We have rented good quality villas and appartments throughout Spain and Portugal but this appartment is a gem and very rare. Missing it already after just one day.

The decor is especially attractive and unique! Breakfast was outstanding. The location right by the sea and small beach is breathtaking when the big waves are crashing. Convenient to the sidewalk to connect to Almuñécar by foot. View from the rooms, bar and rooftop are spectacular.
