It's a very attractive little lakeside town with a medieval...
It's a very attractive little lakeside town with a medieval centre, including intact and walkable fortification wall, and lots of nice places to eat. It is well-connected transport-wise for visits to nearby attractions like the roman ruins in Avenches or the (really well-worth visiting) 12th century abbey in Payerne. Cosy town. Away from the hustle bustle of a larger tourist city. Offers all lakeside water sports and family friendly entertainment and restaurants. Driving to nearby tourist spots possible in an hour radius. Large picnic ground and beach volleyball possible

Murten is vey intresting, bt very small. Take one day to visitMurten and go for a long walk in he forest, by the lake. A "promenade" by boat over the lake (very small) will provide views over the small villages around it. One day is enough for all.

It was not far from the train station which was also great since we were traveling by train to Murten and made excursions by train from there. Murten is a wonderful town to stay in with easy boat and train excursions from the town and very good restaurants in town. Murten was a great choice since it was close to Bern but without all the negatives of a larger city.

Breakfast was entirely self-serve (in these covid-19 times) but well presented and fully adequate. It's a very quiet location. Though the price is higher than other hotels, a complimentary beverage is included in your stay, plus breakfast which was much more substantial than other hotel breakfasts. This, along with the great location, very clean atmosphere, and large room meant that the cost was actually a better value than most.

The same holds true also for the train station and boat pier, as well. But the very central location also means that in the room there is a lot of noise from the street. I was pleasantly surprised, the room and bathroom were clean and spacious although fairly spartan. Breakfast was good and we were able to eat outside, enjoying the morning sun. The warning of the DJ playing until 1.30am did not materialise. We did not hear a thing in our room, perfect night's sleep.

The hotel room was recently renovated, the old hardwood floors are giving it a nice atmosphere but the facilities are new. The owners are very committed and gave helpful tips and their restaurant on the ground floor is great for a nice dinner!
