Guesthouse En is a holiday home situated in Maki, Shiga. The nearest station is JR Omi-Hachiman Station, located a 12-minute drive away. A microwave and a toaster can be found in the kitchen. You have a house, 100 years old house with all facility of a home of 400 feet! Birds sings as morning call, village life old culture around, itself a tour spot.

Set within a former residence of local merchant, Inase Otsu Machiya Bed and Breakfast is set in Otsu, 700 metres from Mii-dera Temple. Each room is fitted with a flat-screen TV. Loved our stay here - even changed our plans to stay an extra day. The guesthouse is only 20 minutes from Kaito, with a direct train running to Otsu. The guesthouse was so authentic - with a lovely zen garden. The breakfast is a must - we had a traditional Japanese breakfast with salmon, rice and associated condiments. The staff were wonderful - made so many great recommendations - a fabulous local restaurant - great food and amazingly friendly staff. And suggested we go to the beach (on the lake) for a very chilled day. And even dropped us at the train.

Biwako Hanakaido features outdoor and indoor hot-spring baths, 3 dining options and rooms with a balcony and Lake Biwako views. It also has a garden and a sauna, while the lobby offers free WiFi. It was our first onsen experience and it was superb! You have a very great view of the lake. Room is very spacious. It's our first time as well to stay at a traditional Japanese room, wear yukata and it was a great experience. Excellent dinner and breakfast. They can pick you up at the train station which is very convenient.

We booked this property with a bit of hesitation as there were very few reviews on booking.com and we didn’t regret it a second! It is in a very peaceful residential area, quiet, restful night’s sleep is guaranteed which was very important to us. The house is warm and cosy as we had a bit of a cold weather it was important. We felt at home and had a great base to explore the city of Kyoto, Otsu and all the surrounding area. There’s everything you would need in a household and more. There’s also a nice garden which we couldn’t use due to the cold weather. The owner is a very sweet attentive lady and a great host who took care of every single need of us, so that we felt like staying in a friend’s house. With or without car this accommodation is a great choice to escape the crowds of Kyoto and yet be in 25 min distance to downtown Kyoto. We stayed there for 10 days and explored the whole area. I cannot recommend Sayo’s place enough! I would love to come again sometime.

Set in Takashima and only 50 km from Sanzen-in Temple, Farm stay inn Sanzaemon-tei 別館 2023OPEN Shiga-takasima Reserved for one group per day Japanese Old folk house offers accommodation with mountain... ・Even though I was traveling by train, the family welcomed me warmly. ・There was a landscape rich in nature that was different from Kyoto and Osaka. I liked the ricefields, the Biwa-Sea, the Mountains and the special spezies of the Mammut trees. ・The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. It is a big house very nice equipped, there is a big kitchen with all you need. There are nice flowers and the linen of the beds is so soft. I felt like at home. And I enjoyed the bath. I recommand very much to stay in this wonderful house with this wonderful family. I would really like to come back one day.

Offering a garden and quiet street view, Guesthouse Shin is located in Omihachiman, 38 km from Sanzen-in Temple and 39 km from Mount Hiei. My wife and I are not young folks anymore. The trip to the bathroom during the night was somewhat difficult for us. The bedroom was on the upper floor in the lovely traditional Japanese house. The narrow stairway was challenging for us. There is ample room downstairs and perhaps owners would accommodate a request to put the bedding there.
