Set 1.5 km from the town of Koli, Kolin Lotus Cottages are located close to Lake Pielinen. These self-catering, semi-detached cottages have a children’s playground and BBQ facilities. It was much cosier than in the pictures and was spotlessly clean. This small resort functioned like a well oiled machine and the caretaker was on hand offering assistance/ taking conscientious care of ploughing the snow to aid our exit and entry to the property. It was very very cold when we visited and the snow was mounding up continuously, but there was firewood on tap and the sauna was wonderful. and the view/ position amongst the trees was just idyllic. The cabins are in the perfect location for visiting Koli national park; witnessing the crown snow load alone was worth the drive from Helsinki. For anyone doing the same be aware that driving in the snow can increase the predicted driving time by 1/3!

Facing the seafront in Puolanka, B&B Aittoranta features a private beach area and a garden. This bed and breakfast provides free private parking and a shared kitchen. Amazing little place with a wonderful host. Great location right next to a lake and very close to the Hepoköngas Waterfall and Hiking area. Breakfast was also very good with a large selection. 10/10 - Highly recommend staying here. Will definitely come back if I'm in the area

Set in Kolinkylä, within 5.7 km of Koli National Park, Kolin Lotus Superior offers accommodation with air conditioning. Great view, well cleaned and everything worked well. The contact person was easy to reach. It was super nice to swim in the lake after sauna. The pictures give a real picture of the house, extra plus for that.

Featuring a sauna, Loma-Autio Apaja is set in Puumala. This beachfront property offers access to a patio and free private parking. the location is simply amazing. the cottage is spectacular with a good sauna and connection with the lake. very quiet and remote place, perfect for relaxing.

Featuring a sauna, Casino Islands Getaway is set in Savonlinna. This apartment offers free private parking and a 24-hour front desk. The Sauna in the appartment was the highligth of course!

B&B Taipaleenniemi in Savonlinna provides adults-only accommodation with a terrace and barbecue facilities. This beachfront property offers access to darts. The location was stunning and the facilities are beautiful. The sauna next to the lake was great; there are lots of beautiful places to relax and enjoy the lake and scenery. The food is good and the hosts are wonderful.

Set in Savonlinna, within 1.7 km of Savonlinna Train Station, Hungerborg City Home offers accommodation with air conditioning. Enormous apartment! When we walked in we thought it was the reception to the building (as it's on the ground floor and has something of a feeling of a shop with the floor to ceiling windows etc), however very quickly realised it was indeed the actual apartment. Spotlessly clean, and felt luxurious to only have 2 of us staying when the apartment could quite comfortably sleep 6. Entry was very easy with the code provided, and parking is available just over the road in the small car park behind the K-Market. Would highly recommend for a trip to Savonlinna as it's in an incredible location just 5 minutes walk from Olavinlinna and the lakeside, but also easily accessible from the road.

Situated in Rantasalmi in the Eastern Finland region, Mansikkaniemen Lomakeskus features accommodation with free private parking, as well as access to a sauna. The host was so kind, accommodating and understanding even after we had a situation on the property. The hosts were easy to contact via email. The room and facilities were immaculate and the facility was easy to navigate!

Located just 28 km from Savonlinna Train Station, Lomatila Ollila Farm Stay provides accommodation in Kerimäki with access to free bikes, a garden, as well as a 24-hour front desk. Rotating between sauna and swimming in the lake in perfect peaceful silence. After a good sleep an amazing home cooked breakfast helped start the day - and free roaming ducks and chickens really got you in the best possible mood. The landscape, comfort, food, staff, and peace really are unparalleled. On top of everything we even got to charge our car a bit during the night to help us reach our next destination. Without a doubt will be visiting again.
