At first we were a bit worried about booking this place due to the lack of reviews. We chose this location as it helped to break up our journey up to Wakkanai from eastern Hokkaido. It's at the junction for easy access to Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park. Rooms are above the bar. Simple but very functional. Free parking is available just behind the building. The staff are very warm and welcoming- we thought the kitchen was closed but they offered us freshly cooked scallops at a real bargain. Do bear in mind it's not a full fledged hotel so do not expect the full works. Avoid if you 1. are going to check in at very odd hours and will have problems contacting them for assistance (they are responsive over booking.com so if this is the case and you don't have a local phone number, you should be able to work something out with them beforehand) 2. despise carrying your luggage up a flight of stairs 3. can't stand small, quiet towns. We had to drive 10 min away for dinner as the nearest restaurant was closed due to the Golden Week holidays. Otherwise, it's a good, simple, fuss-free stay.

Located a 45-minute drive from Monbetsu Airport, Takinoue Hotel Keikoku offers great access to the Takinoue Gorge Kinsenkyo, which is located within a 10-minute walk away. Location next to the Takinoue Park and delicious food - very plentiful

On the wooded shores of Lake Saroma, Tsuruga Resort boasts hot-spring baths, a sauna and 3 dining options. The spacious rooms have a seating area, bathtub and beautiful lake views. This is our 2nd visit after visiting 4 years ago, the room is with lake view and comfortable, the dinner and breakfast is good, the hotel's staff's service attitude is great, and there is free parking.

That we had the entire house to ourselves; this would be excellent for larger groups of travelers such as families. The laundry facilities were much appreciated. Dinner was fantastic. House was comfortable and would be great for a longer stay.
