We stayed in Intra, a smaller district / town part of Verbania. The town was great; it had shops, supermarkets, cultural activities, a small beach, great nightlife atmosphere with restaurants and bars. It felt safe to walk around at night. We did not like the busy main traffic road crossing right through the town. That was definitely the spoiler for us. Beware of expensive restaurants serving poor quality food 'for the tourists'. Better buy food yourself and cook at your apartment if possible! Great quality Italian products at a third of the price. Great ferry trips departing often. Beware of the islands excursion, took forever to get to Isola Bella and definitely a bit of a tourist trap, a very beautiful one though!. Great hiking and biking excursions, just do a little research and there's loads of amazing places to see. Huge market on Saturday. Leather goods for all tastes. Be careful again, they will try and charge you heaven and earth for cheese, salamis, fruit etc. Otherwise, Fabulous!

Verbania is a good base for exploring the sights of Lake Maggiore. It has great facilities and is the starting point for boats and ferries on the lake. Verbania is attractive, with a pretty waterfront, a lovely old town and lots of shops and places to eat.

Verbania is a beautiful city on Lago Maggiore.
Verbania is a beautiful city on Lago Maggiore. There is a free market every Saturday, with good bargains and excellent fresh fruit and vegetables. The cathedral on San Vittore is a must see. And the Botanical Gardens: Villa Taranto is a great place to sit and enjoy the views of the Lake and Nature's Treasures.

Relaxing setting with lots of options. Visiting the beautiful islands on Lago Maggiore and Villa Taranto botanical gardens were highlights for us. The busy weekly market on Saturday brought out the tourists and visitors. Lots of options for restaurants in the town.KarenUnited States - 10Scored 10
Eating out as well as shopping is excellent.
Eating out as well as shopping is excellent. Corona safety meassures are observed in all places we visited. I've been a regular visitor to the area for 40 years and I can say things have not deteriorated there like in many other places, on the contrary if anything the overall impression of the place has improved and is more attractive today - definitely no tourist trap.wolfgangGermany

The breakfast was really delicious and the staff were so friendly. Definitely, if I will have a chance to come back to Verbania I would love to book in the same hotel. The views over Lago Maggiore are magnificient at every time of the day and under all wheather conditions. The public areas are extremely generous, kept in great condition and allow you to spread out etc. There is a lovely village restaurant in walking distance. Other hiking trails beckon right next to the property.

We didn’t try the food, served in the canteen but the coffee is very good. The pool is well maintained, though not heated. So during our stay is April, we couldn’t enjoy it. Very quiet, peaceful place. Perfect starting point to visit lago Maggiore highlights.

Only 10 mins walk from Villa Taranto botanic garden and Villa Taranto quay to take a boat to Isola Bella, Isola Madre, Locarno etc... Only a couple of mins drive or 20 mins walk from restaurants located in Pallanzo or Intra. Lidl and Bennet supermarkets are only a couple of mins away.
