Our room was pleasant but quite small. It was clean and had everything we needed, Breakfast was good. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, especially Ian on reception. The beer garden was lovely with plenty of heaters at the tables for those chilly evenings. The pizzas served were delicious

Although abounding in reminders of the past, York is very much a city for the here and now, with excellent shops, bars and restaurants, many along the River Ouse. Surrounding it are the medieval city walls – the longest and best preserved in England – and many of the gates that once allowed access to the city.
Walk the walls for wonderful views towards the city and towering York Minster. Standing proud on a hill, this cavernous church is the seat of the Archbishop of York, the 2nd highest position in the Church of England.
A little south is The Shambles, a narrow street with medieval buildings that now house quaint shops. Going further back in time is the Jorvik Centre, a fascinating museum showcasing the city’s Viking remains. You can even have a go at archaeology yourself at the DIG excavation pits, with replica finds from York’s Roman, Viking, medieval and Victorian eras.
Other York attractions include the National Railway Museum, home to the Flying Scotsman and Mallard trains. Around 30 minutes’ drive away is Castle Howard, a stately home with over 1000 acres of grounds.
Leeds-Bradford Airport is the nearest airport, and there is a great range of hotels, B&Bs and guest houses in York and the outskirts available on Booking.com.

A beautiful city, with so much to see and do. One of my favourite places! It can get busy, so if you’re staying in the area for a couple of days it’s worth planning to try and avoid the busiest times.

Visited; The Yorkshire Museum, Jorvick, The Merchant Adventurer's Hall, York Minster. All are top class venues, would recommend them all very highly. The staff at each venue were really friendly and helpful. Jorvick staff were amazing in the knowledge they have of Viking York. The Yorkshire Museum had a good range of themed exhibits and lots of fun activities for kids in each room, plus sofas for parents to sit on.
We bought sandwiches etc and ate in St Mary's Gardens adjacent to the river and the Yorkshire Museum, a lovely location. We also ate at Marks and Spencer's Cafe; good basic food and the Merchant Adventurer's Hall; nice little cafe with limited, but healthy options. Easy to get around in York, everywhere is in easy walking distance, watch out for the cobbles and uneven pavements. It was Bank Holiday and the Shambles was seriously overcrowded, it is also looking shabby, some buildings need a coat of paint.

We stayed in York for 2 nights (Monday-Wednesday) and we found that this was the perfect amount of time. We arrived to the accommodation around 3pm on the Monday and explored the nightlife after a relax in the room. We then spent the whole of the next day exploring the town. The Shambles was full of cute, quirky shops and the city is full of history. I would highly recommend going into York Minster, especially if you enjoy history/Romans. There are so many lovely spots to enjoy lunch - we ate at Drift-In and had the most amazing sandwiches (the desserts also looked amazing!!) and is dog friendly. The Stone Roses Bar is also a great location for some drinks with great music and atmosphere. Our last day consisted of us walking the city walls and enjoying the National Railway museum. There is a lot to do for young couples, like us, but also families. We really enjoyed York and will definitely be back in the near future.
The hotel was lovely we went for my daughters hen party there was 14 of us. The hotel was situated in a lovely area of York a short taxi ride into the city centre. The pub next door the grey mare was very helpful with taxi numbers and where to go while we were staying there. Only 1 complaint there wasn’t enough bedding the sofa bed didn’t have a duvet and when one of the girls rang they said they couldn’t bring one until the office opened on Monday and we we’re checking out on the Sunday.
The location was very good. There was plenty of transportation. The city buses and the tour buses had stops close by. And the main part of town was within walkable distance. I had to pay extra for breakfast and it was a little expensive but it was readily available and tasty with choices. The room was cozy and comfortable. The shower was one of the best I experienced over my five weeks of England travel. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The room was spacious with good amount of hanging space and a comfortable, large bed. Tea/ coffee/ biscuits provided. Easy to park and walking distance to city centre and all of York's offerings. Bar was reasonably priced and comfortable and the hotel has lots of additional comfortable seating space in it's public area and well kept gardens.
The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff are really lovely, friendly and professional. Breakfast was great with plenty to choose from. We had an evening meal in the hotel which was very good quality, tasted great. It was also good value for money and the serving staff were lovely too. Great location for walking into York.
It's a pretty new hotel and is very clean, and in a great location, particularly if you're travelling by train. Near the city walls, and easy to get around on foot to the major places of interest in York. Breakfast good, but very busy between 9 and 10 AM. Our room was very quiet, but we asked for one away from the lifts.
The location can't be beat. The hotel is virtually at the front steps of York Minster, the great cathedral and principal attraction in York. It is also a relatively easy walk from the train station.
Our room was well appointed.
Breakfast was very good with hot breakfast selections cooked to order. Service was prompt.
We had a comfortable king bed in a decent sized room. Amenities for making morning coffee. The best location possible! The hotel is located within a house which is right across from the entrance to the Yorkshire Museum Gardens. Perfect location for everything we wanted to do.
The room was clean and lovely the staff were very friendly and the location was great could not fault it at all . The breakfast was nice too could not fault it . Wish I had booked two nights xx definitely recommend the hotel . Will be back best one we have stayed in York x
Exceptional service by the wonderfully friendly staff. The hotel had character, the room was lovely and there were great little touches such as fresh milk, candles in the small courtyard and the availability of York Gin (only a few doubles were consumed)!
City centre location. Faultless. Noisy at times but we didn’t mind. There to explore. York is just stunning. Very quirky hotel. Love the decor. The entrance. The uniqueness. Pink bar downstairs amazing cocktails. Warm room. Pillows beautiful.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean the rooms were clean too.
Very good breakfast!
The hotel is perfectly located as it is close to the train station and very close to the city centre with most of York’s attractions!
The hotel is in a good location, for easy access into York city centre and the Designer outlet, which is 5 minutes away. The bus stop is just outside the hotel/ across the road
Quick check-in process. A good selection of items for breakfast.
Great location, secure parking a major plus.
normally stay in a hotel when visiting York. but decided to try an apartment. was not disappointed and the extra room was excellent and more relaxing. would highly recommend this property.
Friendly staff, easy check in process. Room was clean and comfortable. WiFi good. Price seems in line with comparable hotels in York. The location is a short walk (10-15 minutes) from the main hustle and bustle of the city centre.
2nd Visit to this hotel which has a great vibe and is located to access York's sites. Hotel staff were helpful and friendly, room was clean and breakfast good. Great bar area to sit and relax with games provided.
Lovely room and nice building. Amazing quality breakfast.
Good location, 15 minute walk into city centre.
One of the few hotels in York with parking (£10.00 per 24 hours).
City Centre close to hotel.valet parking beneath hotel is a little cheaper than the carpark opposite. Parking is a problem in York.
Had a room overlooking Clifford's Tower.
The staff were so friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an excellent location to visit York and we thought our 'Churchill bunker'
themed room was so interesting.
Great location with parking just a short stroll from the centre of York. Superb for a short break with the children as so much more space than a hotel.
