The hotel location was superb! Less than a 3-minute walk from the station's exit. The front desk helped us to collect our luggage delivery from Tokyo as we made an en-route to Kyoto & Nara first. They even kindly help us to put the luggage in our room before we arrive at the hotel (around 10 pm). Very thoughtful of them to even provide us with a FREE hotel buffet breakfast for our first-night stay. It was a great move which lightened up our exhausting day. They were also very well prepared in handling guests' luggage for luggage delivery to the airport upon check out too! The room is very clean and housekeeping replenishes/changes our linen every single day. The ambience, interior decorations, background music etc gave a very cosy vibe that feels just like home! There was a coin laundry area with a total of three washing machines and three dryers. Some guests were hogging the laundry by using the (two of them) dryer for 2.5 hours (ends at 12 am), and we decided to walk out (4 minutes away) to find another public coin laundry shop. However, the staff noticed the issue very quickly and offered to help us do the drying process during their midnight shift without any extra costs. How lovely!

Art Hotel Osaka Bay Tower, hotel in Osaka

Art Hotel Osaka Bay Tower is directly accessible from Bentencho Station. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. Osaka Station is an 8-minute train ride away from the hotel.

We had the sky floor, with luck we had a room on the 50th floor looking out over Osaka. As this is the 4th tallest building in Osaka, we had quite a spectacular view of the city. The building is located between the center and the bay area with the aquarium. It is very easy to get anywhere throughout Osaka via the C-line or O-line trains. The area itself is near schools/university areas so many isakaya spots, but otherwise very calm. The mall and small restaurants located under the tower can provide in anything for breakfast or otherwise.

FAQs about hotels in Osaka

A Stronghold of Japanese Culture

At the meeting point of river and sea, huge Osaka combines forward-thinking development and sure-footed tradition. This is symbolised in its temple-like, 16th century castle, guarded by ramparts and enlivened by vibrant spring cherry blossom. Dominating the surrounding skyline is Osaka Business Park, a reminder of the city’s strong role in the Japanese economy.

However, the most striking skyscraper is the Umeda Sky Building - 2 towers connected by a rooftop terrace offering far-reaching views. The nearby Osaka and Umeda train stations are linked by underground shopping centres, while the shops of Shinsaibashi’s America Village appeal to a younger crowd. Dōtonbori’s neon lights promote more shops, as well as restaurants considered the best in Osaka. In a city touted as Japan’s culinary capital, that’s quite an accolade.

The Tsūtenkaku tower overlooks Tennōji Park, home of the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art. Another nearby park houses Shitennō-ji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples.

The Kyocera Dome Osaka is a shrine of baseball, and more thrills are at waterfront Universal Studios Japan, the country’s 2nd largest theme park. Also by the sea is Kansai International Airport, on its own artificial island.

The capsule hotel was invented in Osaka, and alongside this type of accommodation, Booking.com also offers luxury hotels with pools, cheap hostels and traditional ryokans.

Everything is good except using the train; it’s super complicated and confusing and a lot of people. I think it needs better English translation of how to access the train especially when buying tickets and transfers and exiting the stations.

I booked 4 nights in Osaka which was too long given we had already spent a week in Kyoto which was very close by. If I returned to Japan I'd prefer to have spent longer in Kyoto with a day trip to Osaka. Best place to visit was the Team Lab Borderless Garden, even though we had a massive downpour in the middle of the visit it was magical and would recommend to everyone. The park restaurant was also a bonus and would recommend eating a small tea there before visiting. Dotonburi was worth visiting for an evening also. Having travelled around Japan for the preceding 3 weeks we were shocked to see litter in Osaka and smoking on the streets. The quality of food around Dotonburi wasn't great compared to similar places in other cities.

We booked for 2 nights in Osaka, but as the transport to get there is so efficient, one night would be sufficient to see the sights. Osaka Castle well worth the visit, but easily done if a few hours. Tip: when using the Metro lines, opt for the cheapest fare, and if insufficient, visit the "Fare Adjustment" counter upon arrival at your destination.

Osaka has lots of different things to see, from the castle to the aquarium, modern shopping centers to neon-lit tourist streets and giant underground shopping/dining complexes. Public transportation is convenient, clean, safe, and timely. Multiple interweaving systems can be a bit confusing, and transfers between lines might involve a bit of walking through large stations. Osaka is an easy central point for visiting Kyoto, Kobe, Himeji.

For our 4 days and 3 nights stay in Osaka we were able to go to Universal Studios, Osaka Castle, Umeda Sky Building, Shinsekai, Dotonbori / Shinsaibashi and Namba Yasaka Shrine. All of those places I mentioned have restaurants if you happen to get hungry. Our to go to when we needed a snack was family mart which was everyone. We had to take the train to reach the places I’ve mentioned - it’s cheaper compared to getting a taxi. Osaka is a great place. I would recommend it to those visiting Japan for the first time like my family.

The staff were very friendly and the rooms were huge compared to a typical hotel room in Japan. I was able to walk between two metro stations very easily which made getting around the city very easy. The Lawsons across the road was an absolute life saver! And there are loads of restaurants within walking distance. The hotel has a sushi restaurant which looked amazing though I didn’t use it because I had already booked other plans. The general vibe of the room was great. If we come back to Osaka we will definitely stay here again!

The hotel rooms were large for the price with apartment amenities: dishes, fridge, microwave and clothes washer. Beds were comfortable with plush comforters. Soundproofing was excellent - we did not hear any street noise or neighbors over three nights and although our room was closest to the elevator, we did not hear any elevator noise in our room. Breakfast was impressive with both Japanese and European choices, hot foods replenished quickly, cold foods kept cold. Would choose the Fraser Residence Nankai Osaka again if in Osaka.

I loved everything about this hotel. The room was spacious compared to others in japan. The location was super convenient. They had massage chairs in the lobby which felt nice after a couple weeks of traveling. They also had free drinks and ramen. The drinks are of course not the best but they're quite good for being free. They had daily activated planned which I think would appeal more to families with children. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting osaka and would definitely stay again.

We spent one night in Osaka before traveling on to other parts of Japan. The hotel is very pretty and has an interesting church on the grounds. The staff were helpful and cheerful. Beds were fine, shower was fine. The hotel is not in the train station, but is accessible from the train station by walking underground. We had an issue with our thermostat and they came right away to fix it -and it was fixed to our satisfaction. We didn't eat there, but the restaurants looked very nice.

This is the best hotel in Osaka. The staff was very nice and helpful, my mom lost her phone on the rental car and the hotel’s staff was helping us to contact with the car company until we got our phone back. Most of the staff can speak English. The room is a little small but normal for Japanese hotels. Location of the hotel is great I can easily walk to Shinsaibashi, Dotonburi and Kuromon market is just across the road. Definitely come back to stay again!!!

I wanted to stay close to Shin-Osaka rail station to visit Hiroshima/Kyoto/Himeji etc. and Smile Hotel was a good choice. Just 5 min to Shin-Osaka, 3 min to nearest metro station. Lots of places to eat and 24h marts around. Hotel looks fresh, room was of a good size (for Japan), very clean, bed comfortable, could open the window which is important for me. They have coin laundry on site (typical for Japanese hotels - very convenient). Wifi worked ok.

Not far from the bustling center of Osaka, yet still offering a quiet environment. There's a 24-hour supermarket nearby, as well as many local eateries and cafes. Although the hotel rooms aren't very spacious, this is a common characteristic of Japanese hotels. The staff is friendly and provided us with clear guidance. I heard that there will be a restaurant on the first floor in the future, and I hope to visit this place again next time.

A decent basic hotel, comfortable, clean and a reasonable sized room (for a Japanese budget hotel) with a nice view of the river (not from all rooms) and a 15-20 min walk to Osaka station. Good services nearby, and Nakanoshima's impressive Festival Towers. If your main interest is the night-life of Dotonbori, it's a good 20 minute walk away although frankly, Osaka has far better things to offer.

Cross Hotel is in the heart of Osaka, very close to the Dotonbori strip. The rooms are comfortable, but on the smaller side of all the hotels we had on our roundtrip in Japan. I believe the hotel is a bit too expensive for the value it provides. Overal, it is a good hotel with a decent breakfast buffet and can be recommended for a trip to Osaka due to its location.

The location was great - easy to walk to Dotonbori and relatively close to Osaka castle as well. Compared to other capsule hotels, the spaces in the deluxe rooms are massive and are essentially as big as a normal room. Locker space is decent as well in the room and should fit a medium (carry on) suitcase easily.

Superb location just off Dotonbori in the heart of Osaka. The room was very spacious (especially compared to other hotels we stayed at in Japan) and comfortable.
