Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The hotel was at a very prime location in Asakusa. The room had a great view of the pagoda. Loved the public bath.

United StatesThe area the hotel is in is overcrowded with people. But if you want to be literally in the middle of everything, then it's a GREAT place.
Very good unique experience. I've never slept on tatami mats. They were very comfortable. The hotel is small and quaint. I loved the Japanese ambiance.

United StatesFor a tourist, this is a perfect location for getting around the city: right next to a metro (which is also just two stops away from the express train that goes to the airport. if you want an instant feel for the "coziness" of living in this country, the room is a great introduction to small space (while I did not actually see the "upgrade" room, on paper it looks a bit larger - for two people there is no additional room to walk around or spread out your suitcase) and the bathroom is most tiny with the faucet for the sink basin also being the faucet for the bath tub. There is a nice bath featuring hot spring water on the top floor with a spectacular view of the skytree. Our room also had a great view of the Kaminarimon Temple and Pagoda, which is beautiful lit up at night. I would stay here again.

Brunei DarussalamThe place was quite small so it might not be ideal for families. But nonetheless, perfect for a solo traveller and even duos.
The place is so clean and smells so nice. And most importantly, the staff was very kind and helpful. They call taxi for us and help in carrying our luggages. The even stored our luggages from our check-out time until we have to leave for the airport at 7pm. The location is perfect too as it is very near to the infamous Asakusa souvenir street (only 1-minute walk!), Sensoji Temple and train station.

DenmarkI am too Old for Living on the floor, my back hurts and the chairs were no good. Japanese are not so tall. There was a short non-availability of hot water. I miss breakfast, but in Japan they dont eat breakfast like in Denmark. Only American cafées were open in the morning, luckily
Ryokans are oldfashioned, and a Way to experience an Old culture. Off cource The modern Way ti live is different og much more easy. It was fun to try but never with comfort. I was Living in a single room, you could also book the luksury, by paying double. The bed was wonderfull and to live in the center. And the Japanese bath on 6th floor was wonderful

United StatesThere’s a sign to indicate when someone is in the onsen, but there’s no corner of privacy if you’re actively changing. If someone opens the door, you better be dressed!
The onsen was small but very relaxing. The room was always clean. The staff was very friendly and thoughtful. I forgot something in the onsen, and they found it and gave it to us later! Right in the heart of Asakusa, too. There’s a candy strawberry stall super close by.

CanadaSingle room has almost no place to hang clothes. Toilet paper was the cheapest toilet paper available. Not quite sure if they understand that people will be using five times more toilet paper. No in-house laundry facilities and no food options.

FinlandNothing really to complain, maybe only steamy window in the cold weather in the onsen, so the view from the window was a bit challenging. But you just accept it.
It’s an amazing experience in a ryokan. Fantastic and kind stuff, spacious room with a tiny cute decorated balcony overlooking the street. Location couldn’t be better, just behind the corner from Nakamise-dori market street and Senso-ji temple. Great for exploring in early morning before it gets full of crowds. The onsen with a view on Tokyo Skytree and another on the pagoda couldn’t be better. They switch sides for men and woman so you can explore both views. Asakusa area became one of our favourite also thanks to the ryokan.

United StatesLocation is a five minute walk from Nakamise Shopping street. My room was clean and well maintained although very basic. What I mean by basic is no bidet and a metal key for opening my room's door. That is what I expected from this quaint locale, so I was perfectly happy with my accommodations. I also got a great rate.
